Victoria Derbyshire

Post by TVC15 » Mon Jun 10, 2019 10:29 am

Mother of God
She just said a very rude word in mispronouncing one of the Tory leader candidates

She said she had never done this before
She’ll will he announcing she has Tourette’s before lunch in a desperate bid to save her career

To be fair she was bang on with her description !

If it is the one I am thinking of, James McNautie (naughty!) beat her to it some years ago on Radio 4. Apparently Jeremy saw the funny side on that occasion. :D

It’s a shame that it’s not as easy to “accidentally” refer to Boris as ridiculous posh tw*t.

nicky campbell also said it previously about the same bloke, so it must be an accurate descriptive.

whatever people think - the culture at the BBC has led to this happening so often and it is highly unprofessional - it seems like a game to them - so many have done it

Chaucer uses the word quite a few times in The Canterbury Tales (c.1390). Didn't do him any harm.

Mind you, Chaucer wasn't on telly.

I can't ever really recall hearing a woman use that term.

A term used regularly in Game of Thrones by male and female folk regardless of race colour or creed....

It’s very funny and you can’t imagine a “ straight “ like Darbyshire using it in mischief ( like for instance Nicky Campbell might ) . It’s not a word I think I’ve ever heard a woman use ( in real life) though it’s more common than Nicky Campbell’s Jimmy Saville impression these days that’s for sure .

Thankfully it wasn’t a Tory “accidentally” calling the London Mayor “ Sadiq “ C**n “ I doubt it would be greeted with such chortling jappery .

Sorry, old fruit, my sarcasm has clearly eluded you - no surprise there.....
I'll explain.
You were clearly attempting to score some political point or other with a rather crass and illogical example. I simply pointed out your stupidity in attempting to do so. Sorry.
Try not to be offended. ;)

Current gender split for the Hunt / *unt slip-up...
Blokes : Nicky Campbell, last week, 5live
Justin Webb, June 2018, Radio 4
Andrew Marr, Dec 2010, Radio 4
James Naughtie, 2010, Radio 4
Women : Victoria Derbyshire, today.
Carrie Gracie, January, BBC News Channel
Harriet Harman, 2012, Question Time

(Source : Guardian/mailonline)

So the men currently have the edge. :D

No doubt that will change quite regularly if he actually
gets the gig as Tory leader. Like at every press briefing.

Actually, that would be unbelievably entertaining if it happened live at a press conference!

I prefer John Inverdale unable to choose between rose coloured and rose tinted glasses. “Rose cunted glasses” trumps these in my opinion.

I thought her doc on her cancer treatment was interesting.

The fact she allowed it all to be filmed, I say very much fair play. I have a lot of respect for her and she does do her best to put things across.

Maybe. I wouldn't know, but as I understand it Game of Thrones isn't real people. I've mixed in all sorts of circles but I'm struggling to think of occasions when I've heard the term come out of a woman's mouth.
I very much associate it with men.

I was using GoT as a point about the "C word" (and "F word") being used on mainstream TV programmes.... rather than trying to say GoT was about real people

Just showing how times have changed... the "C word" was never used in TV scripts until comparatively recently..... now it has been on several programmes.

But yes I think its a generally male usage of the word in everysay life.

I agree with this - was having a conversation with my daughter (she’s 24 btw !) and wife last night and we all agreed that the last 4 or 5 years in particular you are hearing this word spoken by females a lot more on TV. It’s not just GOT...we have seen it on big US shows like Big Little Lies and other shows plus they are sure it was on Fleabag recently.

It's probably because that's what Jeremy Hunt is referred to in the BBC editorial meetings and around their water coolers ... it's not referred to as " BBC Guardian " for nothing.

I believe 20% of Guardian subscriptions are for the BBC and it's employees, and one ex-BBC news journalist reported that on his first day in the news-room, he was thrown a copy of the paper by an editor, " today's agenda is all there " . There were reports that not one member of the " Newsnight " production team from presenters through to the humblest editorial assistant voted to " Leave . The BBC may not think it's biased, but it is very much unrepresentative of the Nation it purports to serve ....
