Sounds just like me, he'll fit straight in

2kg today when he was weighed ( 4 weeks old )
Should be about 5kg when he can come home on 9th July.

It's true what they say, labs will eat until they're sick and then start again, so be careful
what and how much you feed him.

They also love water and will often find it when you didn't even know any was present.

He’ll cry like a bitch for about a week. Try resist the urge to go downstairs or take it in the bedroom with you.

It’ll **** and **** around the house for about 12 weeks so make sure you get some pads. Hopefully you haven’t any young, inquisitive kids who pick up anything on the floor.

However, dogs are ******* mint. Ours is 11 months old now and regardless of how **** your day has been, they still love you all the same. It’s mint.

When your at the top of a moor somewhere, just you and your dog its magic...feels a little like when the final whistle went against Spurs at the turf...pure heaven.

We have a lab and she is the most loving and devoted dog you cold ask for, best thing I read about them they are a "stomach on legs", and it a is absolutely true but will be devoted to you.

Just to balance it out, our lab arrived 7 weeks ago. Didn't cry at night, cage and blanket over it. Had a few accidents in week one and 2 and then 1 a week max. Doesn't chew too much yet except lumps of firewood and rubber toys he's given and of course a beef bone. Don't feed it anything other than dog food from its bowl .

Massive commitment mate,but the good times outweigh the bad,a dog will be the best friend you ever had.

Dogs are awesome. We just got two more (Pom puppies).

This is Benjamin, just 6 months old. We got him the day after I retired on Feb 1st

This was one of the guide dog puppies we looked after a few months ago,unfortunately we had to give back lol.

Do not be tempted to feed it scraps from the table. If you succumb to it's pitiful eyes you'll never have a peaceful meal without it sat at your feet drooling while you're eating!

Think theres a few posters on here that frequent that park and the walking routes near me.

Good choice for a 1st dog, you will have a new best mate.

Remember any food you have is his, any crisps you have are his. If you think some food is out of reach on a work top or some higher place it isn't. No chocolate.

Also if you wonder who loves you more the mrs or the dog, 1st Saturday game tell them both you will be home no later than 7pm. Roll in at midnight hammered and see who is happiest to see you.

My mum used to do baby sitting. She went round this women's house and she had just got a dog, a deaf Dalmation. Before she went out this woman asked my mum if a ham sandwich would be alright for its tea.

The next day my mother got a call from this woman to say that her husband had threatened to kill her and the dog unless she got rid of it, so this animal ended up with us. It was six months old, had not been house trained (the previous owner was a working woman who had left it to its own devices all day), but was very affectionate and intelligent. It destroyed lots in our house - television (it walked round the back of it to see what was going on and knocked it over); double glazing (my mum was cleaning the inner glass of the French windows from the outside and the dog just ran straight through it on seeing her); chewed up hair brushes and lots more - but we loved it. It could somehow detect when I was coming home from work and would put it's front legs on the window sill to try and look out for me.

Have a lab (same colour) for almost 4 years, A fantastic dog,brilliant with kids,adults and other dogs, always done his
business outside without any need to train ... One good piece of advice we was given, don't 'over-walk' him for the
1st few months .. 4 x 10 minute walks a day is ideal over exercising them can impact on their hips for later life ..

He wont eat any human food, but I'd like to see him try it on for my crisps. If theres one thing I'm passionate about its crisps ( it used to be crisps and pies, but I've spotted my addiction to the latter )

To be fair I can see the dog helping in my quest for more drinking hours, its earnt me millions of brownie points, and who doesn't like a quick pub stop after a decent walk.

Just hope he's happy to sit and watch the cricket for several hours in the sun, then guide me home.
I'm usually a touch wobbly.

Yes picked him for those reasons listed above, and his parents are great too, so hoping he follows suit.

Hes already doing his business on pads at his current home, so touch wood we wont have too many accidents early on.

That’s a great site for all sorts of help. My advise really invest time on the first few weeks in routine. Really get to know the breeder and get them to do lots of socialisation work and have fun they’re awesome

Yes the cage has been the first thing we saught.

I'm not giving up my bed for anything, you hear all sorts if stories of them sleeping with the owners or in the same room etc
I'd prefer if he didn't go upstairs at all.
