That’s a great site for all sorts of help. My advise really invest time on the first few weeks in routine. Really get to know the breeder and get them to do lots of socialisation work and have fun they’re awesome

Well the breeders are relatives, so we've been going over a couple of times a week to see him, they're also using his name.
The mother is trained on a clicker so hopefully they'll be as obedient and take after her personality wise.
They're showing good signs if toilet training already which is good news for us.

Really looking forward to the journey

Shark on legs or furry Crocodile is how we used to describe our Blue Staff when he was a Pup. Shoes or slippers in the house would definitely be advisable for a few Weeks I think. This isn’t likely to be teething more likely just how it plays with the other Pups. Never hit it when it does wrong a few sharp noises or words is better. When it can go outside Take it out for a wee every 2 hours or so and after food I don’t mean for a walk more in the yard/ garden.

We live on Faraday Street so there are 2 options, Ightenhill park and Whittlefield. Whittlefield is always littered with squashed beer cans, fag packets and occasionally discarded syringes. The tarmac play area at the bottom is usually littered by broken glass and populated by knobheads with pit bulls and staffies so Ightenhill is the best option.

I walk past faraday several times a day, my children do/did go whittlefield

What dog do you have?
I bet I've seen you multiple times, there only about 4 dogs on there, theres the blue staff ( middle ish ) a young lady towards the bottom has a shih tzu type ( she walks dogs I think for a living ), then theres 2 nearer the top, a Springer owner then further up another type but not spied the breed at a glance ( but he has 2 young lads who used to go Whittlefield )

And I agree about that park/grass area, shockingly poor regards litter and its occupants.
The path round the school is just as bad, used by irresponsible dog owners as a dog toilet.

Edit - if I was a betting man, I'd say you were the Springer owner, and if so , used to work with you...

He’s not a springer, he’s a sprocker. His mother is a working cocker and his dad’s a springer. You can see a picture of him on page 1 of this thread. We had a springer but he died last year at 15 years.

You can take them outside before they’ve had all there injections. It’s really important that they meet loads of different people and circumstances. We carried ours in a sling and where no other dogs where let him walk. The socialization phase is how you get a well balanced dog!! The Labrador site has some great advice plus our vet told us where we could walk etc.

We did this, carried her round in my coat walking our other dog just to get her used to the sights and sounds outside.

Yep, looks like my turn to post without paying proper attention to the OP.

Tip- make sure it knows where it sits in the family hierarchy. They are pack animals, dog owners want a best friend but it needs to know who the boss/bosses are. As mentioned above, don’t get angry/strike at the dog.

Another sprocker owner, even in terrible weather I love getting out with dog!

If you are worried about picking up poo don't get one. Rule number one of being a responsible dog owner. If you did get one your wife would be smitten within 24 hours. Dogs have a way if getting into everyone's affections without too much effort!

Aww. My lab is 12 and still fighting fit, loving longish walks although he is not to keen on climbing the Pendle steps now. Went to Malham today with him and would love another but I don't want the puppy to oion him in his later years

We have a child gate on the kitchen. Our spaniels eat when we eat. They know the drill. When I'm in the kitchen cooking and preparing their meal it's their favourite past Tim lying on the floor and watching my every move. They are quite patient good at waiting. When the food is ready we eat in the dining room in peace to enjoy our meal and the dogs enjoy their meal in the kitchen behind the gate until we are finished. Nothing worse than dogs slobbering after your food.

We brought him home today, he's grown so much.

Settled in nicely now, although I'm knackered today, he was up for an hour, every hour last night.

Just needs to grow into his ears and legs now, they're all over the place when he's bounding around.

He will soon grow out of that stage and into the naughty and mischievous stage, that is when the fun really begins

Nope just on the puppy pads, so far so good, although if hes picking a floor in future I hope it's the laminated kitchen floor and not my nice newish pile in the front room...

I meant carpet.
Touch wood, hes not dirtied his bed or floor yet.
He had pads at breeders house, which he was using so hopefully just continue with that approach.

He can start going out on the 23rd of July, so can hopefully get him in some sort of walking and toilet routine .
