Banana Blossom and Chips. Didn’t think it would be Vegetarian ‘Fish’ and Chips as it doesn’t sound as on trend and dramatic as ‘Vegan’.

If it tastes nice, then no bother.

Will they be using, er, "fanny batter" to get the authentic smell?

Pretty certain it was on the menu at Holt’s chippy in Nelson whilst I visited on Monday!

Good fish and chips

A skinless haddock fillet in a crispy batter served with chips that are golden and crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle is what I class as fish and chips. If you can find a place that still fries in beef dripping, all the better as the taste is far superior to those cooked in vegetable oil. Busy Lizzies in Skipton did the last time I went it, Rick Stein's chippy in Padstow does, as did a place in Tenby South Wales and the chippy at the Black Country museum. Loads of salt and vinegar to serve.....

Joking aside, I'd give it try to see what it tastes like.

But salivating after Herts Post it has to be said.

Just what is a 'Flexitarian'? :?:

Nope, I'm not going to google it, I'm going to stick to words that have sustained me for 64 years.

Frydays for some of the best fish and chips.
I was in a chippy in Scarb and someone asked for vegetarian chips.He was told to clear off as their chips were cooked in dripping

I've had a great vegan donner kebab.
Because lets face it, it's so processes anyway and once it got all the salad and smothered in chili sauce you really don't notice the difference.

A flexitarian is someone that is "flexible" about what they eat, they'll mostly have a vegetarian diet but will eat meat now and then.

~~~
Most veggies I know don't actually want our food to resemble meat (or in this case) but if it gets more people eating less meat that's all good.
How do you tell a vegan at a drinks party? You don't have to, they will tell you, again and again and again.
Let’s take something natural, copy it with a load of synthetic flavours so it’s just like nature provided.... and we’ll leave it for the future to deal with the new bacteria it creates...
But yes right on, dudes.
No but how many long term tests and trials are these new foods going through.... can you say that mutating flavours will not long term lead to new bacterial mutations?
You might want to tone down the internet searches a bit!
I just annoyed they haven't called this food Solyent Green and Chips.
Most Yorkshire folk will avoid it anyway.
'I don't believe it, chips not cooked in Beef Dripping'?
Sorry these food fads get on my tits lol.... spent most of my adult life being told milk bad, eggs bad salt bad.... now the nation is lacking salt and ‘sodium enrichers’ are soon no doubt to be soon on the multivitamin shelf, as it seeps through that too little salt is far more dangerous than too much.... eat proper food properly.... it’s not as though the species is exactly failing. As for ethics... I’ll chose my own.
It’s not fish, so why bother with the “vegan fish” bit? Living with a vegetarian, I’m not that fussed, but this just strikes me as false advertising by desperate vegans.
It’s called JJ’s Vish and Chips and it’s being marketed as the first vegan fish and chip shop in the north of England. How is that false advertising?
So you can equate it to what you already know and understand.
"Whats that?"
"Deep fried potato cuboids and textured banana plant battered in dairy free coating"
"What?!"
"Vegan Fish & Chips"
"Oh ok"
It's why they call "non-calorific artificially sweetened carbonated vegetable extract drink" a... diet coke... Same principal.
Our species is not failing you're right. But at the cost of almost every other species, and once those fail... then we're f8cked.
Absolutely agree we need to sort out the environment. There are a lot of things that need implementing and plenty more we can each do to help... I just don’t agree the vegan diet is either healthy or justified. Dairy is healthy, shock horror, I’ve spent most of my life being given one story after another... same with salt. Aid workers are now justified in providing cheap sustainable natural food... who’d have thought humans might have been getting it right on nutrition... Chicken guano is amongst the best natural fertiliser.... and they happily live of scraps so food for waste....
I’m against trees being hacked down, but I’m just against it whether it’s for a burger or a cornfield.
