A club that just never learns. Good manager comes in, has no money to spend, stabilises basket case of a club, gets potted because he didn't get them into the play-offs.

Horrible owners, horrible fans, horrible club.

Rob Dorsett from SSN who seems to know what's going on, has just said: "Relationship between Garry Monk and #bcfc bosses increasingly strained, and there is a real possibility of him leaving St Andrews before the start of next season. Monk didn’t want swap deal with #avfc for Jota and Gary Gardner -now at odds with Xuandong Ren, CEO over wage budget."

Leeds, Birmingham. You could argue that Monk had a habit (pardon the pun) of walking into these things.

Meanwhile, over at the Hawthorns, Slaven Bilic has been installed as West Broms new boss.

Is Monk actually that good?

He appears to be floating between basket case jobs since Swansea.

Must be satisfying though to be a total failure at your profession but made millions out of it though

Given a choice I would say Adams would choose Saints regardless of our offer. They will pay him more.

Dyche was obviously keen and we have gone in for him, but I've not seen anything like enough of him to make a judgement. Seemed to have a real purple patch in front of goal but only one in his last 13 games. It was a hell of a purple patch though.

Brum fans frothing on Birmingham Live. "Absolute disgrace" and "shambles, bloody shambles ", " can I get my season ticket money back?" being some of the milder comments.

Surely they would rather see what other offers they get instead of jumping at the first one .

Done a good job at Birmingham has Monk. I'm sure he won't be short of offers from some of the bigger clubs in that league.

Only three and a half years since he was sacked at Swansea. He hasn’t been short of offers.

Derby? when Frank goes to the bridge, they could do worse, and have done worse in recent times(Paul Clement) for one.

He probably wouldn't be glamorous enough for the deluded Derby hordes, but he knows the division and can work on a tight budget, which if Derby are economising next season could be crucial.

Monk has been up to some dodgy dealings with the help of his agent it would appear.

Worth keeping an eye on this one.

It could appear to be two characters out to move from club to club and sign as many players as possible, to ensure fees go to themselves- directly and indirectly. Getting the sack, an important element, in the whole, fast moving business.

Such folk could be described as ****.

As said it's a murky and seedy side of the game and one which we rarely see, but when you read stories like this and the Sala transfer saga and fat Sam and his son's dodgy dealings at Bolton and the Pulis shenanigans at Palace a few years ago etc, etc you come to realise it's actually common place and football is awash with greedy pigs with big snouts in huge troughs lining their pockets and that when your club signs a player it might not always be because they actually think he will improve the team, but quite likely so someone can cash in personally.

The Times: Middlesbrough claim Garry Monk helped his agent to profit from transfers

Middlesbrough’s grievances are similar to those voiced by Birmingham after sacking Monk last month. The 40-year-old was dismissed suddenly after 16 months at St Andrew’s, with the Birmingham chief executive Xuandong Ren claiming that Monk’s sacking was the result of him attempting to involve Featherstone in all of the club’s transfer dealings. When approached about Ren’s comments at the time, a spokesman for Monk declined to comment.

In a statement to The Times, released on behalf of himself and Monk, Featherstone denied any wrongdoing.

“Allegations were put to Garry and I by the club,” Featherstone said. “We instructed lawyers, cooperated and responded fully. We received these allegations almost a year ago and following a strong rebuttal of all allegations have heard nothing further from the club and, there have been no regulatory breaches nor any court action taken.

Worth reading The Times article to understand what Middlesbrough are alledging. I've only copied the paragraph that links to Birmingham. Plus, of course, Featherstone's denial of any wrong doing.

As we know the sports agency world is full of surprises.

I’m surprised anybody is surprised. These sorts of transfer dealings go back to, at least, Brian Clough and George Graham. I believe Harry Redknapp has also been associated with similar deals. Taking money on the signing and then an improvement fee for any profit on future sale.

“he deals under scrutiny were all completed in the 2017 summer transfer window and involved the signings of Cyrus Christie, Ashley Fletcher, Ryan Shotton and Marvin Johnson.”

At least two of them seem to be mentioned an awful lot in certain transfer gossip columns.

The problem is an industry awash with money that has irrelevant regulation.

Why do clubs still keep employing the likes of Redknapp, Allardyce etc when they are so obviously lining their pockets. They do it because they want to remain in the premier league or whatever (so essentially the same financial reasons).

I think if we knew the extent of corruption in the game it would open a real can of worms. You only have to look at the likes of a Blatter in his 80s and bleating on like he is some kind of saint when he was the top of the corruption chain...
