Southampton sign

Post by Quickenthetempo » Thu Jun 13, 2019 1:29 pm

Southampton have signed the Belgium forward they have been trying to sign for a few week.
With Austin, Ings and Long there as well it should rule out them going for Che Adams now.

Those 3 strikers didn't score many between them last season did they?

No they didn't score many at all, maybe if we got Danny back at Turf Moor he could change that.

I doubt SD would ever welcome Ings back.

Southampton committed to buying Ings after initial one year loan period - he becomes their player on 1st July I think - fee £18m and further £2m with appearances.

As they are currently buying him for £20m (under last year's deal), they won't be letting him go on loan.

Think we dodged a bullet not bringing him back.

He won't be coming back to Burnley but, in any case, why would you want to sign a player who has played just 38 league games (29 of them starts) and scored 10 goals in four years since he left?

And that should mean a nice little windfall for us.

Was it 25% of everything above 8m?

All adds to the kitty.

There should be a nice big juicy transfee pot this summer, and that's before any sales.

3 million would certainly help. Pay wages for a very good player for some time. Or could be put towards the Cricket Field refurb.... and I dont mean those crap flimsy plastic seats.

I may be wrong but I was sure there was a 10 million loan fee. Meaning they owe us nothing

There were rumours that they were trying to get out of it. Seems to have gone quiet now though.

Pacey winger. Strikes me as the sort of player who’d have 3 good games next season but 2 of them would be against us

If it was that easy, everyone would do it. I have no idea specifically what procedures the league has in place to stop that, but I'm sure they have them.

That is wrong. You cannot do that to avoid paying a sell on fee. It would be blatant contractual avoidance.
When you see Klopps interview when Ings left it was pretty clear that he had gone for good and there was no option for anyone to change their minds.
