Back on topic,,,

It's obvious to me that Jo Brand would never actually throw battery acid on anyone. It's even more obvious that she would never waste any of her ******* milkshake.

What Joe Brand wrote/said could be understood as advocating a Hate Crime.

(or as someone already said that?)

Comedian makes joke. But it's a lefty comedian so the liberals are alone while the right are flipping out about hate speech and other such bullshittery.

The right can go mate with itself.
Can I rephrase this
Someone makes a silly joke about the colour of someone's skin, the police are called, the person is arrested and taken to court and fined. Being an Alcoholic ex footballer with mental health issue's is no defence.
Left wing comedian suggests that throwing acid iin someone's face is a good thing. The right go crazy because nothing is done about it.
Sounds more like it eh IT

Settle for...

You said it was "almost verbatim". There are literally no two connecting words in your "almost verbatim" presentation of what she said that is actually in what she said.

You embellished her quote to make it appear more outrageous, probably because the original quote wasn't outrageous enough for you.

I didn’t listen to the show live and was getting on with my life but have since become outraged by reading and listening to what has been reported in the press and obviously agree with the politicians who’ve added their views to it. A spell in prison would deter other comedians from daring to think they can get away get away with such disgusting jokes.

What you posted isn't a rephrasing of what i said, so i feel fairly secure in saying "sure, go right ahead" since evidently you don't know how.

Humour can be as dark and disgusting as you like but publically joking about inflicting severe violence on very visible polititians is asking for trouble .Couldnt she just have suggested people throw a bucket of **** on him?

No. I simplified it. For the simple-minded's benefit, I'd hoped. But here you still are...

Still, although of course a joke loses its humour when explained, I'd love to hear what the joke is apart from, "Throwing a very corrosive substance at Nigel Farage / Sargon / Tommy Robinson would be funny." What's the witticism I've missed? Was it a pun? Did she pervert the form of something? Lead us to believe something and then flip it through 180? Did she draw an amusing analogy with something else?

Or did she simply ask why people throw milkshakes at these people when battery acid would be better?

If I was literally going to try to pull someone up for that, I'd literally make sure I knew what "literally" meant, maybe with a dictionary link. Or I'd at least check that "milkshakes" didn't literally appear in both.

"Two consecutive words" was what i meant when i said connecting words. Not one word from your fake quote also appearing in her quote.

But since you bring it up, i decided to go through the two quotes, your "almost verbatim" version and the real quote, and look for words that appear in both of them, and it doesn't look very good for your "almost verbatim" version

I found "it", "to", "unpleasant" and "milkshake". That's it. Almost ******* verbatim.

Edit: and "are". Gotta give you credit for "are". I missed that one.

Oh, sorry. My mistake. That was the same person who said this, "I think it's legitimate to say that if people feel they have lost control completely, and we have lost control of our borders completely as members of the EU, and if people feel that voting doesn't change anything then violence is the next step.

"I find it difficult to contemplate it happening here, but nothing's impossible."

Thankfully Farage has completely changed his tune and thinks that inciting violence is now a bad thing, so bad in fact that even jokes about it are too scary. Bless him, poor mite.

I hope some one mocks his plane accident next, that'll really set him off again.

I think this has been covered in several Farage threads.
But for the record, he is also a massive hypocrite when it comes to freedom of speach (and probably some other things)

My stand up routine wouldn't be very interesting if I followed this, being mostly about working a desk job and arguing on a football messageboard.

I’ve never been a fan of Jo Brand. I’ve never laughed at one of her jokes...

But we are living in 2019 where context doesn’t exist anymore. It’s a bad taste joke, and that’s it, but the context is... well, I shouldn’t have to explain the context... but unfortunately people are so ******* thick in this social media world.

All that said I can’t really comment because I’ve not heard the whole programme.
