Lot of money for a relatively unproven player.

Be interesting to see how he gets on in England, I can't think of many Brazilian footballers living in that end of the world.

Good for them. What did Fulham pay for Schurrle? Money doesn't guarntee anything, but I fancy Villa will be fine next season.

A vast amount to pay for someone who scored 13 goals in a relatively poor league last season.....

Not the kind of signing I'd like us to be making. At least if we spend £20 million on a striker from the Championship we know they're going to fit in with the squad and not end up seeking a move back abroad in a seasons time when they struggle with the language and can't settle.

1 in 3 striker from the Belgian top division is £22m now? Isn’t that about what Vossen’s record was and he was bang average in the Championship?

He may well prove an excellent player for Villa, and I know very little about him, but at face value it does underscore that there's a bit of wishful thinking in the argument that by looking overseas, you automatically get better value for money. His goalscoring record in Belgium is good but not spectacular, and it's a big step to the Premier League.

It does put 18-20 million for Che Adams in some sort of relief.

Is a lot to spend on someone relatively unproven. But hey, it worked with Benteke, so I’m guessing they reckon they’ve struck gold again.

I’m not bemoaning Burnley for not showing interest on this one though.

To be honest, there are literally hundreds of players who would struggle with the language they speak around Brum...

To be fair, if he’s been playing in Belgium, I’d say he’ll be fine settling in England.

Whether he’s good enough is another matter, though.

No suggestion Vydra doesn't fit in in the dressing room or isn't settled in the area. Dyche just doesn't fancy him which is a different issue entirely.

He could be totally unsettled and isolated in Belgium but still succeeding on the pitch because he's playing at a lower level. In the Premier League I wouldn't risk it, not in a team like ours that relies so much on teamwork rather than quality.

Exactly. In fact in his most recent interview didn't he say how great the players were off the field and that he was really close with the other players or something like that?

Saw him a few times last season in matches online but he didn't make much of an impression. Flitted in & out of games & a bit clumsy, remind you of anyone :?: So he'll probably get 12 goals ! I think there's probably half a dozen better than him in the Belgian league
