Brentford's New Ground
This has to be one of the oddest designs I've ever seen. A huge stand down the side and what are those weird slant off's on one side of the ends behind the goal?
Loads to be admired about the project, but the design is certainly not one of them.

That’s cool. It’s an old school new build.

Re: Brentford's New Ground
It's obviously designed to fit into the relatively cramped area within West London, as long as the Stand stil has " KLM " plastered on the Roof, to be seen as you fly into Heathrow, then I'm happy !!

Does this mean there won’t be a pub on every corner anymore?

I think there long term plan is going to be very successful
And they could be a good outside bet for promotion
The amount of money they generate from player sales is excellent and it doesn't seem to deplete them they have either been really lucky or have one of the best recruitment and development set ups in the country
Can see another Bournemouth here and it would be an excellent investment for someone
I think Millwall would have been another but for its ugly past and a reason they haven't been any takers
Also at one time Orient was another that could have been a good investment
With the attraction of the big glamorous city we could see nearly every London side with history in the big league
I only think with Amazon prime and all these other companies competing for rights its making our clubs even more lucrative for investors wanting a piece of it
Look at what a dead end Bury and Bolton got there selves in but again investment as won the day again
And so it will be with Coventry at the eleventh hour

Having done all four pubs it's more a case of 'in the vicinity of' than 'on' every cornerbfccrazy wrote:Does this mean there won’t be a pub on every corner anymore?

Designed to fit the space, therefore already has a bit of character.
Has to be better than having a template design in the outskirts of nowhere.

My friend is a Brentford fan, he tells me it will be great for visiting fans with pubs, a station and Kew Gardens all next door.
The stadium is designed that way in order to maximise the available space. It was originally planned to be 20,000 capacity but that has now been lowered to 17,000.

Looks good and tempered to cater for their supporter base as opposed to a pie in the sky pipe dream.

Re: Brentford's New Ground
It’s on what is basically an industrial estate loads of Companies including Sega around it right next to a tube station as well. I think it looks smart when you get up close but it does have a few oddities. My Companies main Office is across the road from it when I go you have a great view of the Stadium from the fourth floor of the Office.

On the “home” picture you can see the roads behind the two slanted corners.
Tidy job for me.

Possibly done do keep in atmosphere in and/or allow for further expansion should the require it.
Doesn't look too bad when you stand on the centre circle and take in the 360 view.

Drove passed the new build a couple of weeks ago. Well designed for the space available, good luck to them.

Re: Brentford's New Ground
The rugby club I support will share this ground from 2020 (moving from the Madejski) so I'll be visiting regularly & look forward to it.
From a footy point of view, I think the old Brentford ground only has two adjacent pubs nowadays and I recall that a lot of Clarets tend to meet up at the pub just north side of the bridge (The Express?) anyway. The new ground will be pretty handy for that pub and a few others either side of the bridge. The new ground is nearer to Kew Bridge station than Griffin Park is to Brentford station too.
I liked to stand on the bottom tier of the away stand (Wendy House) at Griffin Park (especially for that 3-1 win in our last promotion season) but the new location has a lot going for it, I hope its a successful move for them, they are a likable enough club.

Re: Brentford's New Ground
I've been following the drone vids. of the build on youtube. I think the design is good for being idiosyncratic. It looks weatherproof, in contrast to the open-to-all-weathers 90s stands at Turf Moor. One can still have a good atmosphere with a compact stadium and crowds of 175000, although I'm glad Turf Moor is bigger.
I prefer this ground to New White Hart Lane.

It would be disappointing for a crowd of 175000 couldn’t generate a good atmosphere tbhPstotto wrote:I've been following the drone vids. of the build on youtube. Re: Brentford's New Ground
Was actually in a few pubs around the new ground last night and they were very good.
The whole of Brentford is being regenerated at the moment. The area of the old grounds isnt the best but I suspect with moving locations the land that the current ground is on has become very valuable to the club.
