Nope. Bacup Borough.

Hartlepool may be the coldest League ground. I'll grant you that. I'm a bit more up to date with northern racetracks, and Hexham wins that particular coldest prize, for probably the same reason - the east wind from Russia.

I don't know what it's like usually but the Ricoh arena is the coldest I've ever been on an away game. That includes being told to go and sit in a puddled seat at Crewe!

I’m with the OP - that day at Hartlepool in 1985/86 was as bad as anything with the rain sweeping in off the North Sea. We were supposedly under cover but it might as well not been there.

Yes Hartlepool.

But the Beehole was no picnic at times in the late 80's with a few hundred on and the weather being inclement.

Apart from Hartlepool, the horizontal rain at Bury in the Sherpa (when Comstive scored that peno) also stands out. As do several others.
But Hartlepool the most consistent.

I watched England u-21’s at Roker Park in Jan/Feb 1996 and it is the coldest I have ever been.

I was a student at Sunderland at the time and during that cold snap our hearing went off one night; I went to bed fully dressed in a sleeping bag under the duvet, wearing a bobble hat. And I was still shivering.

That was the game where Marlon seemed to slip on ice on the pitch causing him to handle the ball outside his box and get sent off

Can't remember what year it was, probably about 1995, but the wettest and coldest I've ever been at a football match was Broomfield Road. I wasn't even in the open terrace but in the covered bit to the side but the wind was lashing the rain straight in. Unpleasant evening.

3 gams stand out for me.

Coventry away November one year. Think Marlon King played. Was absolutely freezing. Coldest away game I can remember.
Peterborough at home a bit more recently. Think Jay scored a wonder goal that day.
Abroad, Slavia Prague in March 2010. I think the only reason I didn't freeze to death was the mulled wine!

Port Vale one night against Lincoln in the FA cup midweek in 1981. I was living just up the road in Kidsgrove.

Consistently I'd say Barnsley, though I think for the single coldest day watching Burnley was one grim Saturday afternoon in the mid-80's at of all places Orient. When we arrived at the away supporters turnstile the stewards advised that they'd cleared the last bay of the adjacent stand and that those parties including ladies or children could go in there rather than out onto the open end terrace; up to that moment I thought there'd just been me, a mate and the missus in our group, I soon discovered there were about eight other blokes with us.
I recall it being 0-0 at half time and as the teams/officials were heading in to the dressing rooms a strong east-Lancs voice called to the referee and suggested that he "blow the whistle again, call it a draw and we'll all take the early train home", which got a bit of a laugh. Perhaps ten minutes into the second half Orient scored and soon after an east-London voice called out "you'll not be wanting that full time whistle now". A good laugh and into the silence that followed the east-Lancs voice returned: "No, I'm so f%%*ing cold, I'll take the loss if we can just go back up north where it's warm." That comment brought the house down! I think the final result was 1-0, might've been two, but we certainly didn't win as it was during my wife's 'first eight years' of watching - she NEVER once saw us win until Scunthorpe in about 1991.

Portsmouth, we lost 2-0, we um-ba-bad for 90 mins to keep warm, one of the lads we were with accidentally left his coat on the coach and was turning blue - one of the Pompey stewards gave him his bright orange jacket for 70 mins cause he could see what was happening. To this day I've never experienced a temperature that cold at a footy match

Middlesbrough's old ground Ayresome Park...cold, windy and very wet.still shiver when I recall going there.

For me .......Turf Moor at home to Leicester last year, I was soaked buying my ticket from the ticket office, never got dry, I arrived early and had to stand outside waiting for the turnstiles to open, and could not stop shaking, the game did little to warm me up also.........

The match at the Turf where JRod scored a wonder goal (against Peterborough?) was a chiller thriller. I went for a pint after the match and ended up leaving some (virtually unheard of!) because it started snowing and I was fearing getting stuck up Fence. A few people I know jacked that match at half time it was so cold. The Crown Ground at Accrington is a cold hole as well...

The old Roker Park open end was very cold. Though as BoT says, an almost empty Beehole end could be bad.

But non of them compares to Silverlands at Buxton, where you often comb the frost out of your eyebrows at half time.

Suppose it depends what time of the year it is but coldest I remember at an away game was Gillingham and Rotherham.
Turf Moor can be a tad inclement though, think coldest has to be that Saturday game (against Peterborough, I think, Jay Rod got a late equaliser) anyway, freezing sleet was blowing horizontally across the longside and everyone was stood up as it was just too cold to sit!

We went for a drink after the game and when we came out of the pub after about an hour there was at least 6 inches of snow on the ground and everwhere was in gridlock with a blizzard in full swing and traffic at a standstill.

That game at the Ricoh was a bit chilly to say the least

Plymouth's home park ground i actually got frost bit on my toes the one in the snow coaches had to set off at midnight to get their i must have been mad

Coldest I've ever been was at the Ricoh.

Hard to argue with Harlepool or Grimsby though.

Ricoh Arena for our first visit. Think we got beat 1-0.

Grimsby when we played them in the FA Cup 3rd round and drew 2-2.

Millwall when it had snowed which I think it was the 13/14 promotion season.

Bacup Rec,Sunday morning in January,forget that Sunday morning in July.

Stoke City has to be up there.... it was ok for our first game in the Premier League but I've been there on days when it has been incredibly cold!

Can't argue about Hartlepool either, to be fair.

Was horrendous at Wembley last season but incomparable with that day at Hartlepool.

That Peterborough game was the coldest I've ever been on a game too including home games. The crowd at one point was chanting "it's ******* freezing I want to go home". I'm sure jayrods goal was the winner that day though?

That was the day I had to walk home when the X43 couldn't get past P3 on Manchester Road. One of the worst ever for a home game I would think.
