The Guardian article on the subject said that in Buenos Aires it was pouring with rain and eerily quiet - 'it's like a desert' someone said. As a definition of a desert is somewhere extremely dry I thought that was amusing.

Fact... Anywhere with less than 250mm of rainfall is technically a desert.

It's odd that whole countries get a power cut but we can only discuss the meaning of 'desert'. Isn't it a concern to anyone?
