it's about time we had some youngsters at these big U21 tournaments, I watched Romania earlier, Baluta, Hagi and Puscas were very impressive, Baluta already been snapped up by Brighton.

Get rid of the old washed up signings like Crouch and bring in the youngsters, nothing better than watching a youngster develop and become a fan favourite like Mcneil, Cahill, Jay Rod, Keane, Cork, Trippier, Cork, Mee, Dyer and many more.

Wonder if our European scout who brought us Ulvestad and Hennings is at the tournament?

We had a European scout? I thought Dyche picked names out of a hat.

We’ve been excellent until the ball goes anywhere near Solanke. I get the impression he’s made his name as a schoolyard bully.

Phil Foden is magic, bags of ability but wouldn't get into a Dyche side.

Or he's badly out of nick and lacking confidence. Either way he has been somewhat of a liability so far.

What has Solanke ever done in his career to warrant playing for any England side, can anyone enlighten me?

Also Man Utd offered £50 million for Wan-Bissaka, if I were Palace I would snap their hands off, he does realise he is playing for England and not France? I am not sure the amount of times he has given the ball to them with easy passes.

I like Solanke, I think he'll prove to be a good signing for them, never struck me as lethal infront of goal but the rest of his game has always looked very good.

The sooner people accept Gray and Solanke just arent going to be the players they thought they would, the easier this all becomes.

Gray possibly. Solanke would be a waste of time. Wouldn’t play, and certainly wouldn’t be bagging when he gets introduced in the 86th minute.

I'd have Solanke starting for us, big, tall, strong, quick, can beat a man, decent in the air, he has a lot of excellent qualities, he just needs a real run at any level to find his shooting boots, build confidence and develop fully.

The physical attributes are certainly there, but playing for us he needs to be clinical above all else, and he isn’t. If he went off to the Championship and started every week, who knows. But for now I just feel it wouldn’t work out. Sordell was great physically

Gray is a decent player who hasn’t learned to finish yet. Time is on his side and Brendan Rogers.

Solanke has way more ability than Sordell though, Solanke can beat a man, generally good 1st touch etc. I think the clinical part will come with Solanke as he gets older, he still hasn't really had a good run of games anywhere in England yet.

How will the red card affect Choudurys tournament?
3 matches for an awful challenge or 1 for denying a GSO.

That’s if he plays regularly. He got his fair share of game time last season, but ultimately found himself dropped simply because he wasn’t playing well enough. Needs Championship football for me, work his way back up the ladder.

I think Calvert-Lewin is a more intelligent footballer than both Abraham and Solanke. Again, probably doesn't score enough though.

1 match ban for all red cards in this tournament, unless the ethics committee see fit to extend it.

From what I’ve seen, Calvert-Lewin looks the best of them. Abraham scores more goals though while Solanke is definitely third on that list.

In May 2014, Solanke was part of the under-17 team that won the 2014 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. He was the tournament's joint top scorer with four goals in four appearances.

Solanke was named in the under-20 squad for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup which England won. He scored four goals in the tournament. Solanke was awarded the Golden Ball as the player of the tournament.

England U21 - 9 goals in 17 appearances
England U20 - 10 goals in 15 appearances

Seems like a decent record.

Agreed. Neither of the other two have done anything in the PL. C-L has looked very impressive at times and as with all of them has some learning to do.

1-2. Never saw that coming. First half was so encouraging but “same again, lads” never seems to work. Fair play to their coach fir getting more out of them second half.
As said on comms we are missing 5 currently in the senior squad and Lewis Cook injured. The future is bright.

Not quite sure where these ridiculous price tags come from for these young players. Wan-Bissaka has been absolutely awful tonight capped off by a comical own goal.
Nearly £20 million for Solanke, don't make me laugh

Dunno why the ref had to refer to VAR for that challenge- it was a shocker & he deserves a 3 match ban!

price tag probably comes from a full season at Palace and not just 1 game weeks after the season has ended.

England played very well first 20 minutes and should of been 3-0 up. France came back in the game and a draw would of been fair.

But as soon as that tit Boothroyd played with no strikers I wanted France to win. Awful manager

My question is why was there a contested drop ball which led to the goal.
New law changes ??

dp --I don't think that it was a contested drop ball. France were in possession when the ref stopped play for treatment to Foden, therefore, under the new Law the ball is given back to them ---isn't it? We had players in the vicinity of the drop ball but all Abraham did was moan on about it.
I must admit that I am not sure whether we are playing new Laws or old Laws in this competition.

Does anybody know the rules anymore? the most worrying part is the ones paid to lay down the law, aren't even sure what the law is. The handball
''rule'' blows my mind, there is absolutely no consistency at all with it.

Why was the French player ruled offside after the ball bounced back to him off the post from the penalty he missed?

I saw VAR lines of an offside call earlier today in the Croatia/Romania game, the problem is, the lines drawn onto the image they showed for VAR, didn't make sense, the lines weren't drawn correctly level with the last man, both the attacker and defender were ahead of the VAR line on the image. Not to mention the actual image was a TV view, not directly down the line (like a linesman would be) so it was near impossible to tell if he was on/offside.

I don't understand why they are over complicating such a simple game, the goal line technology is brilliant, no messing around but VAR is a disaster.

It's like the referees feel pressured into giving red cards/goals/penalties when forced to review with VAR and this whole ''only for clear and obvious errors'' part is so weird because it essentially means the qualified referee in the VAR room disagrees with the on field referees decision.

Who is in control? the on field referee or the referee in the VAR room? It's not often I've seen the on field referee over rule the one in the VAR room, like the leg break accident Yesterday, the on field referee had a perfect view and didn't even blow for a free kick, suddenly he's looking at video and producing a red card. Did that on field referee really believe it was a red card? if so, he shouldn't referee again, or was he simply pressured into giving the red card and over ruled.

The French penalty taker isn't allowed to touch the ball from a rebound off the post, another player has to touch the ball first, before him.i presume that law will continue?

BTW. Nobody has yet commented on another England team losing after scoring first.
Why does it happen so regularly to England teams and so rarely to the rest of the upper echelon of national sides?

Because the English coaches manual suggests, get 1 up and then play safe.
Do not take risks to get the 2nd, then sit deeper, and deeper to see the game out.
Sadly the mind set then changes and then the equaliser totally changes the feel and it's hard to go again whilst the opposition teams tails are up.

There's not many if any England or English managers wanting to play attacking football. Its all a bit triangle passing and retaing possession without any real penetration.

Possibly a case of both the players and the coaches not being quite good enough.
