Re: Heaton turns down new deal
I can see Heaton going to Bournemouth. Bournemouth are looking for a new keeper and Heaton would be just what they want.
Bournemouth will more than likely blow us out of the water financially, and what's not to like about living on the south coast.

Naughty Naughty fatboy47 , love it.
Re: Heaton turns down new deal
What we don't know about Pope but what we do know about Tom is that Tom does seem over his shoulder problem both in the shoulder and in his head.We have no idea how Pope's head and shoulder will be under match conditionsTaffy on the wing wrote: Pope is the best goalkeeper i've seen at Burnley.........he negates the deep crosses into the box and is a good shot stopper.
Heaton is great.......Pope is probably better.
Mind you Alan Stevenson was great too!
And we do know about Joe's head and shoulders which were bottled sometime ago.

Re: Heaton turns down new deal
There's some bullshit spouted on the internet. Talks about Villa only having tp pay £5m for Heaton. It's worth keeping him just to stop him playing for one of our rivals for a season if that's all we'd get get for him. I still think he'll start the season for us even if he doesn't sign a new contract.
Re: Heaton turns down new deal
I think it's fairly obvious that whichever keeper plays the other will be leaving the club. We definitely won't be seeing either Heaton or Pope on the bench this season.

Re: Heaton turns down new deal
When Pope signed his new contract he must have received assurances that he'd play a big part this season. Mix that with Heaton rejecting his contract, and the idea that Pope will be number 1 isn't exactly preposterous.

He cost us nothing so i would keep him and let him go on a free next year, it's a win, win, he will be able to negotiate a bigger wage being free next year.
Re: Heaton turns down new deal
Some mileage maybe in what Nixon posted in May, that 2 keepers could be leaving. Not that he is the Oracle of course!!

Watford are rumoured to be keeping tabs on the Heaton situation according to gossip column yesterday. Looks like he may get to take his pick to some extent this summer.
Re: Heaton turns down new deal
I think it's a certainty that two will be leaving, pretty much 100% that either Heaton or Pope will be gone before the start of the season.ewanrob wrote:Some mileage maybe in what Nixon posted in May, that 2 keepers could be leaving. Not that he is the Oracle of course!!

Re: Heaton turns down new deal
Major risk to let both leave unless we have an outstanding prospect lined up and even then that is a risk.

Re: Heaton turns down new deal
Totally agree it would be madness to let both Hart and Heaton leave,if they do both want out then fine, but we'd better make sure there is a quality starter or 2nd choice lined up.as replies further up thread point out,we have no idea how Pope injury will react to match conditions,if a week after the window shuts he breaks down again we're up the creek without a paddle.Tricky Trevor wrote:Major risk to let both leave unless we have an outstanding prospect lined up and even then that is a risk.

I remember when we signed a goalie who'd just been relegated to league one and there was some panic.Tricky Trevor wrote:Major risk to let both leave unless we have an outstanding prospect lined up and even then that is a risk.
In fact we've done it twice with an excellent outcome.
If we are left with Pope and a new number 2 I wouldn't panic because our management team have a proven track record thus far.

Re: Heaton turns down new deal
If Poe is injured after the window shuts we would still be able to sign a keeper. Special dispensation for keepers.

Pope won’t be going anywhere this close season.Spijed wrote:I think it's a certainty that two will be leaving, pretty much 100% that either Heaton or Pope will be gone before the start of the season.

And perhaps Heaton doesn’t want to potentially sit around for a year when he could be playing elsewhere.AndyClaret wrote:He cost us nothing so i would keep him and let him go on a free next year, it's a win, win, he will be able to negotiate a bigger wage being free next year.
If he doesn’t want to sign a new deal (and by extension wants to leave), then we should do the decent thing and let him move on with our best wishes, and get some money in at the same time.
It’s the least he deserves.

Our would credit our management with being far to astute to make promises to any of our three England keepers

Re: Heaton turns down new deal
Heaton should stay and be no.1. Pope is good but I can’t help feeling that some of his saves were just that little bit flukey. If he is forced to leave it will be quite upsetting especially after the goalkeeping events of last season.

If he gets injured I'm sure he can write a few more horror stories while he recovers!Darnhill Claret wrote:If Poe is injured after the window shuts we would still be able to sign a keeper. Special dispensation for keepers.
