O/T Amazon / DPD delivery
Feel the need for a rant.
Yesterday I ordered a new keyboard and separate wireless mouse from Amazon Prime. They have both just arrived 5 mins apart via 2 separate DPD delivery vans. The keyboard, which is small and wireless, was packed in a box the size of a microwave. The mouse was also packed in a box the size of a microwave and both boxes were stuffed to the brim with paper.
I'm going to need a trip to the tip to get rid of all the packaging...... Could this be the most un-economical delivery ever ??

Whatever you do, don't order a microwave. They come in a box the size of a Ford Fiesta.

Re: O/T Amazon / DPD delivery
Have you seen the way they are treated by the delivery drivers? Very much the lesser of two evils. As someone who has various couriers bringing stuff from all over the world, trust me they are the very best.Sutton-Claret wrote:Feel the need for a rant.

I ordered a Ford Fiesta and they didn't even bother to box it up for me.FactualFrank wrote:Whatever you do, don't order a microwave. They come in a box the size of a Ford Fiesta.

They will have done - you're just inside the box but don't realise it.Funkydrummer wrote:I ordered a Ford Fiesta and they didn't even bother to box it up for me.

I mean they've probably come in different vans because they ship from different warehouses. I regularly order from suppliers who ship from different locations. Totally agree on the over-used packaging, but atleast it can be recycled and your items arrive safe and protected.
Re: O/T Amazon / DPD delivery
I believe Amazon boxes stuff up so it fits snugly into the van. This can often lead to receiving a box that is far too big for the item it contains. It’s economical for Amazon, and makes it more difficult for poor delivery drivers to damage your goods, even if it can be a bit of a pain for the customer. I’ve no idea why your two items weren’t delivered together though.Sutton-Claret wrote:Feel the need for a rant.

I couldn't give a toss as long as their deliveries arrive when promised and nothing is damaged.

Only a matter of time before you're sunbathing in your garden, minding your own business when suddenly a washing machine flies over to be delivered down the road.Bosscat wrote:Just wait ..... soon the sky will be full of Amazon delivery drones carring humungous cardboard boxes full off paper and your delivery.....

Re: O/T Amazon / DPD delivery
Amazon usually combine Prime deliveries into the same box, even if they come from different warehouses so that's weird.
In terms of the box sizes, it's odd that they seem hell bent on destroying the very thing they're named after!

They won't need it. It will be blasted by rocket through your letter box - or anything that looks like a letter box.
In fact I'm surprised they're bothering with drones and not just using a cruise missile.

Re: O/T Amazon / DPD delivery
What happens if you order a drone but the drone delivering it is better then the one you just bought?
