Just been away for a few days and went to South Wales for a Short break.

We had a day out at the National Botanic Garden of Wales ... Middleton Hall, Llanarthne near Llanelli ....

Well worth a visit if (like us) you enjoy visiting gardens.

The worlds largest single span glasshouse featuring plants from around the world including South Africa, Australia, (along the lines of the Eden Project) and a Butterfly house....

They also have a "Birds of Prey" display and fly them at various times of the day...
Watched a display including a Sea Eagle, Merlin and Kestrel.

Very interesting day spent there ....

Never been but certainly hope to one day, if travel plans allow for visiting South Wales. If you enjoy garden visits, Bodnant Garden in North Wales is one of my favourites. Lots to see at any time of the year although late Spring is particularly colourful.

Yes we have been there Surat..

We are RHS members and love visiting their Gardens.

Particularly "Rosemoor" Great Torrington North Devon,
My wifes Daughter lives down in Woking so we go to Wisley when we are down there (Going down in early August for a visit)

Will have a look at this. Joined National Trust (well worth it) a few years ago and trying to tick off as many as we can from the book. Went to Dunham Massey (Altrincham) last week which was great!

Will look to take my Mum here soon (and the Botanic Garden)! She is from Wales and will love both of these.

Tatton Park and Quarry Bank, both not far from Dunham Massey are worth visiting as well if you've not already been. Both NT but have a feeling you still have to pay for car parking at Tatton Park. Apparently, the greenhouse has been restored at Quarry Bank.
Bodnant is amazing...great for rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias although these might be past their best by now. Some of the paths are quite steep in places but it's a good way of building up an appetite!
Even though I don't live in the UK now, I've kept my membership going and try to visit places when over on holiday. Membership fee worth every penny.

The best thing about gardening was watching Charlie Dimmock planting pansies.i didn't have you down as a gardening freak Bosscat,members of the RHS.....get you !

Charlie Dimmock has a Show on afternoon telly at the moment..... She is certainly a big girl now.

RHS membership well worth the money ... me n the mrs have been members for the past 15 years and visit gardens all over the country...

She is the Gardener ... I am Lawns and construction .

Dunham Massey was good. They mentioned Tatton Park there but said its the only national trust place thats a bit commercial and totally different to anywhere else NT. Even as a member you have tonpay for everything.
