And now a player is robbed

Post by ClaretTony » Fri Jun 21, 2019 5:08 pm

A couple of days ago I reported a break in at the Turf in August 1950. Moving on 16 months to New Year’s Eve 1951 a player had property stolen.

Reg Kirkham, the Burnley footballer, visited his mother’s home at Lydiate, near Ormskirk, and decided to go to a dance at the parish hall on New Year’s Eve. He left his mackintosh, with a pair of gloves and a scarf, in the cloakroom.

Returning an hour later he found the property (valued £16 8s 6d, missing.

The good news is the property was found and a 31 year old farm worker was fined £12 in court.
