Yet more bad news... hidden away.
West Yorkshire child sex abuse inquiry police arrest 44 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-48705621" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Has this become so ‘normal’ now that reporting this gets put on the back burner?
Or are there other reasons this doesn’t make it to the top of the page?

Re: Yet more bad news... hidden away.
Is it normal for child abuse gangs where the culprits are mainly of people of Asian descent to be in the news after finally getting caught?
Yeah, pretty much it is, bit like it's no longer a shock when there's a mass shooting in the US.
Its also no longer a shock when it comes out that social services and the police 'missed' an opportunity to put a stop to whichever gang much earlier but didn't for whatever reason it happens to be, usually because they don't want the aggro.

If it’s been reported on the BBC how is it hidden away?

Also at a loss as to what the OP is suggesting. The story had obviously not been put on the ‘back burner’ or ‘hidden away’.

Has it been on mainstream media?
Surely this is too big to `stumble` across whilst surfing the net?
BBC aren't really known for dealing well with this sort of thing tho...

I think the OP is suggesting that the BBC are hiding it on their West Yorkshire regional page, and that it didn’t even reach the top of that page despite 44 arrested (it didn’t, a man delaying trains did).

Did it? Or did the man delaying the train happen more recently than the arrest of 44 people? The BBC West Yorkshire page seems to display news items chronologically.CrosspoolClarets wrote:I think the OP is suggesting that the BBC are hiding it on their West Yorkshire regional page, and that it didn’t even reach the top of that page despite 44 arrested (it didn’t, a man delaying trains did).

44 people being arrested (the start of the process to bringing them to justice) is good news, isn’t it?

Why are you particularly concerned about this issue, Bobinho? And what do you think should be done about it?

Re: Yet more bad news... hidden away.
It certainly is no longer hidden away as it was one of the headline stories yesterday on Skynews, Channel 4 news, BBC and ITV after West Yorks Police did a media release.Investigations of this nature have historically taken years to get to court as there has to be sufficient good, strong evidence to convince DPP to proceed with the judicial process.

What does their "descent" have to do with anything? You don't have to be of a certain racial or religious type to commit a certain crime.

the veiled agenda of the op is indicative of the zeitgeist of england today.
we all know that child abuse is sickening but nowhere is the welfare of victims mentioned.

That may be true if you take a very specific definition (which some of the research, often discredited, has done).BurnleyFC wrote:I believe that these grooming gangs are predominantly of a certain race.
In reality though you look at stuff like Barry Bennell, etc and it happens with all races.
Sadly a lot of them, whatever race they are, have got away with it for far too long. The trouble isn't not believing people because they're accusing a certain race, it's not believing them because they're accusing adults.

Can we just make a thread where the dozen or so posters can debate the other dozen or so posters in one place without a thread for every piece of dry tinder?
I like to weigh in myself at times but the way it shifts to every 'debate of the day' is tiring.

I’m pretty sure the moderating team generally only delete posts if somebody has reported them which seems to have happened on this thread.Bin Ont Turf wrote:I (and it seems the moderating team) must have a different definition of the word racist to what you have.
That said, I know which posters to look out for and their racism is blatant - although usually presented in a cowardly fashion. Whether an isolated post from these posters would be deemed worthy of being deleted by the moderators isn’t really of concern to me. I’d rather the posts remain in any case to show these people up to the decent people who use this forum.

This is the Oxford Dictionary definition of the word racist;Bin Ont Turf wrote:I (and it seems the moderating team) must have a different definition of the word racist to what you have.
A person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another.
If you or the moderators have a different definition then that’s not really my problem. But if you don’t see discrimination or prejudice against people of other races regularly on this message board then I think you’re either not reading threads or not not seeing what you don’t want to see.

A lot of the racist material on this forum is done via inference and innuendo so is somewhat unpoliceable without taking a side.Bin Ont Turf wrote:I (and it seems the moderating team) must have a different definition of the word racist to what you have.
I reported the post on this thread as it was out and out racial hatred. While on one hand letting others see the opinions of the poster will allow them come to some kind of opinion of their character, to let it to remain could also embolden others to believe that this is a place where similar statements can be posted freely with impunity.

This being a perfect example of a racist post that gets tolerated because it's not explicit, even though all of us know he's implying that if London was less diverse (read: more white) there'd be less crime.
He managed to make a white supremacist post without it getting removed because he wasn't explicit with his white supremacy.

Quite a lot actually, not that you'll really be that interested because if you were you'd already understand.Claret-On-A-T-Rex wrote:What does their "descent" have to do with anything? You don't have to be of a certain racial or religious type to commit a certain crime.
I've commented on this stuff before on here and most people don't quite seem to understand what I'm saying so it's easier for me to **** into the wind then it is to discuss it but let's have another go.
To give you a helping hand go and read about child abuse in Pakistan and India, the amount of it in that part of the world is horrific and it's been ignored for years because the men are usually in charge and don't really care enough to stop it, or they're taking part in it themselves.
The way that people of a certain descent do it over here means its is a cultural trait from over there.
They do it in groups within their own community, with their friends, cousins, brothers, dad's and uncles, it's almost like a social activity.
I also believe their religion plays a part in the issue.
The same section of society also refuse to face up to the issue as a general rule of thumb and blame the white girls over how they dress, how easy they're perceived to be etc.
Yeah we've got white child abusers in this country, but it's not done in partnership with their close mates and relatives.
Barry Bennall didn't knock on at his mates/cousins/uncles/dads/sons house down the road.....
The gangs being caught these last number of years could give the Christian/Catholic church a good run for its money in regards to numbers of child abuse I reckon over a similar time scale.
Oh and just to be clear, because I know some like to muddy the waters or get confused or get giddy and call me racist, I'm not saying child abusers are from one section of society or a particular skin colour or followers of a certain religion, I'm saying the way it's done like this is usually by one section of society.
White blokes tend to operate differently.
