Interesting stat really, especially when you compare it to 2006-2010 and they clearly had a revolving door for managers, with 11 I think it was.Devils_Advocate wrote:If you discount Carver's 6 month temporary stint Newcastle have only had 4 manager in the last 10 years which is quite good by todays standard and on a par with Burnley who have had 4 managers themselves in that time period

Jose at Newcastle would be brilliant.SGr wrote:Jose has mentioned being interested in the project in the event of a takeover, but I’ve got to ask how likely is that looking given Benitez has walked?
Takeover - He’ll overspend left right and centre and not make a team. Fallout by Christmas.
No - takeover - they’ll fall out within seconds of contracts being signed.
Only downside to this is Jose’s bank balance getting another long contract payoff boost in time for buying Easter eggs.

Re: Rafa Goes
That’s an amazing stat because the perception is probably the opposite, but Benítez has had over three years and they had Pardew for about four before he walked for Palace.Devils_Advocate wrote:If you discount Carver's 6 month temporary stint Newcastle have only had 4 manager in the last 10 years which is quite good by todays standard and on a par with Burnley who have had 4 managers themselves in that time period

Pardew might still be under contract. It was 10 years long wasn't it?ClaretTony wrote:That’s an amazing stat because the perception is probably the opposite, but Benítez has had over three years and they had Pardew for about four before he walked for Palace.

Re: Rafa Goes
Ha ha it was and Alan Carr’s dad was on a ten year contract as well. Is it Graham Carr? He was Nuneaton manager when we played them in the FA Cup.Quickenthetempo wrote:Pardew might still be under contract. It was 10 years long wasn't it?

Makes me laugh these suggestions that they would go for Dyche - not a chance he is only liked in Burnley with his style of football

Re: Rafa Goes
Pardew is indeed still under his long contract at Newcastle, but it was eight years long.
He was actually second favourite this afternoon, but I think Mourinho has since moved into pole position.
Shearer : Toon "a shambles."

Last minute winner from Peter Devine? Followed by a very cold journey back to Burnley minus one of the coach windows....ClaretTony wrote:Ha ha it was and Alan Carr’s dad was on a ten year contract as well. Is it Graham Carr? He was Nuneaton manager when we played them in the FA Cup.

I don't think so Steve. Mike Ashey's reputation will put a lot f good managers off. Dyche has a superb relationship with the Burnley Board. He's signed a contract until 2022 and I think he is happy where he is for now - until he wins something significant with us such as winning the Premier League.

You're right, there is no chance that he's only liked in Burnley.BOYSIE31 wrote:Makes me laugh these suggestions that they would go for Dyche - not a chance he is only liked in Burnley with his style of football

Unsurprisingly, Mourinho not interested in taking the job. Whether he was approached or not, we may never know. But what we do know is that he clearly doesn’t see Newcastle’s ambitions changing.

He told Newcastle back in May he was likely to leave.
