Thought it was just the usual summer noises from the North East... they annually have him threatening to leave then they stump up the money and he whines for 12 more months.

Could be a rough season for the magpies.
I don’t think SD will get anywhere near the job. Newcastle fans think they should be aiming to challenge top six playing a certain style. SD would be a fish out of water.

Let’s hope that if SD is linked, then Newcastle announce their new man (hopefully not SD) before we’re back for preseason. Can do without the speculation interrupting our plans.

not as strange as the claim that Gary (buy all players through my agent) Monk being favourite was over the weekend. Though would Ashley buyout the rest of SD's contract so he could go?

Change came quicker than this article predicted

I think the Geordies would be up in arms if they were linked with SD, they are massive don't you know ?

Can we now assume the takeover is dead in the water? I couldn't see Rafa walking away from a huge transfer kitty.

Realistically would this be a good move for Dyche?

He either have to work under Ashley, a toxic environment where he will be expected to work miracles on a shoestring.

Alternatively, they get taken over and he is quickly cast aside just like at Watford.

Normally, new owners want to bring in their own management team

He’d be strung up from day 1 for not being Rafa Benitez. Lose a couple of games and he’s toast.

Rafa to Chelsea maybe
Jose to Toon (if the takeover happens)

Knowing Ashley he will look to appoint someone on the cheap, so that rules Dyche out.

Isn’t Lampard going to Chelsea?

I must be missing something, as I don't see this as good news. Not until they have a new manager and it's not Dyche, anyway.

Just googled that, you're probably right, looks like it's going to be Frank Lampards Chelsea within a day or tow.

Rafa to holiday for a bit then.

Sean Dyche's Newcastle doesn't sound right, and for that reason he won't get it!

This! It’d me a hugely risky move for Dyche with the uncertainty around the takeover.

Wherever SD goes after us will be 'risky', he would back himself for any challenge that comes his way. For that reason I wouldn't be surprised to see him accept the job if offered.

Not sure Dyche would do a quick turn around. Lose six games on the spin somewhere like that and he’d be toast.

Praying Monk gets the gig. Only two other relegation places to fill out of Norwich, Sheff U & Villa.

I could see Chris Houghton in the role, got an inkling it could be him.
honestly can't see Dyche going up there at this present time, would be very surprised if he did.

Surely he isn't stupid enough to go back there after the way the treated him first time round

SD wouldn't go to Newcastle, and Newcastle wouldn't go for Dyche.

But great news for us Rafa has left, we might just out wit them now.

I completely forgot he'd ever been there. In my mind I envisioned him on the touchline, shouting orders onto the pitch against the St James Park backdrop. Now I realise this thought was actually a memory.
I'm not having a good time on this thread.

If Dyche really does want to replicate Allardyce's career, this is a logical move.

Dyche doesn't seem a great fit for Newcastle if that fat #### Ashley is still there. Ashley has had enough of managers that don't toe the line for a little while, so he's likely to install a bit of a "yes-man" for a bit.

Hughton was ousted by Ashley, so that doesn't seem likely. Even Fat-boy must have worked out that Pardew is next to useless (although if uselessness is a league table, then Kinnear, Ardiles and John Carver are dead certs for relegation, and Pardew will have to fight it out with Souness, Dalglish, Fat Sam and MacLaren for next worst).

Lee Bowyer would be free, and that'll go a long way with Ashley, but If he really wants to p#ss the Geordies off then his love puppet Dennis Wise would be a decent outside bet, with Shola Ameobi as caretaker manager in the meantime.

This:-

"He’d be strung up from day 1 for not being Rafa Benitez. Lose a couple of games and he’s toast."

is just wrong. They'd probably like Dyche quite a lot. He's not Rafa - but he's also not Ashley, Wise, Michael Owen, Pardew (etc. etc. see above, nearly all of whom are on the list because they are mates or closet excusists for Ashley and the way that he runs the club.

Which ones? Paddy Power have him at 20/1.

If their Arab takeover is happening, no way will they go for a manager like Dyche - they’ll want a “Name”. If it isn’t, Dyche isn’t daft enough to get into bed with Ashley.

Have you seen Benitez’ face leaving the training ground or where ever it was? He might as well be popping the champagne bottles.

He’s off to China and all its riches, big time.

If this was Villa, Southampton, Wolves, West Ham etc etc I might be worried

But as this is Newcastle I am not worried.

Dyche isn't an idiot and knows the revolving door policy at Newcastle would see him at job club before XMAS.

Probably not but the Sheikh is having the fit and proper person test by the PL from all accounts.
I think it is just a matter of the PL asking how much money have you? Will you be prepared to spend loads of it? OK --yes ---you are a fit and proper person!

If you discount Carver's 6 month temporary stint Newcastle have only had 4 manager in the last 10 years which is quite good by todays standard and on a par with Burnley who have had 4 managers themselves in that time period

Can’t think why anyone would want to go in with him in charge but someone will. Avram Grant’s odds are shortening.

Jose has mentioned being interested in the project in the event of a takeover, but I’ve got to ask how likely is that looking given Benitez has walked?
