Dire from Bairstow. Was hoping we’d be pushing towards 200 before we saw Buttler.

Re: England vs Australia
Good partnership from Stokes and Buttler, but they'll need to go on for a while yet,to give England a fighting chance.
113-4,7 an over required for 20 plus overs, not impossible, but one or both of these will have to be there till the end.
Stokes getting treatment hope it's not serious.

Yep Moeen and Woakes are capable of a quick 20/30 if England can take this to the wire.claretonthecoast1882 wrote:These 2 need to get the target under 90 and then one of them be there at the end
The only problem is both Starc and Cummins have 5 overs left apiece.
It's amazing what a period of sensible batting can do.
Take note Eoin Morgan.
Buttler just gone that might be game set and match to the Aussies i'm afraid.

Superb delivery from Starc and I thought we were just looking like making a game of it. He’s batted brilliantly in these last two games.

Re: England vs Australia
When 3 of the top 6 batsmen fail, (Vince, Root,Morgan) you can't beat the Aussies. Sorry but we don't deserve to win this one and the wheels are coming off another World Cup. Disappointing but not the 1st time!

Been very disappointing when chasing and the pressure is on.
Theres quite a few struggling for form and some of the shot selections have been horrific.

Missing Roy and even Hales at the top of the order . Strange being dropped for using a recreational drug but Gove / Johnson can stand for pm .

Re: England vs Australia
Some very good bowling by the Aussies, plus some poor shots from England AND England not bowling well enough when things were in their favour during the first 45 minutes this morning. I know it wouldn't have been any easier for us than it was for them early on, but I thought Morgan should have batted first. A real danger we might be edged out of the semis now with 2 tough games to come!

A total embarrassment of a performance.
Vince and Ali should be sent back out onto the pitch to apologise for pretending to be cricketers.

Aussie in cricket are like Germany in football to England.
India have looked the strongest side so far to me and would probably be narrow favourites over Australia.

No doubt it will be laughed off again by Morgan and Bayliss. "This is the way we play", we won't change our approach etc etc.

Australia will do whatever is needed to win. Even reinstating convicted cheats conveniently in time for the World Cup. Totally outclassed England todayClaretTony wrote:I’d put India as favourites from what I’ve seen

Strange how sporting Summers are good or bad through all our sides.
After watching Toulon, Euro U21s, cricket, Froome, Thomas this is a bad one.

Re: England vs Australia
You lot have still got the women's world Cup, although that's going nowhere unless they can find a different centre back partner for Houghton.
Bit sorry for Japan. They should never have beaten Scotland, but we're getting better game by game.
And we might sign someone at some point.

I'd make India favourites, based on the action so far,Australia will always be a danger, and New Zealand can't be discounted.Cubanclaret wrote:Aussie in cricket are like Germany in football to England.

I'm all for being positive, but there's a thin line between positivism and recklessness,3 of the top 4 where architects of their own downfall, only Root can say he got a good ball.jrgbfc wrote:No doubt it will be laughed off again by Morgan and Bayliss. Will England learn from this experience,we'll find out on Sunday.

So your tipping 30% of the field, which also just happens to be the best 3 teams?
Are you a bookie?

India always looked the strongest for me due to their 2 spinners. Ours are a bit of a joke.
You may as well just play a batsmen instead of Ali for all he does either with bat, ball or in the field.

"No doubt it will be laughed off again by Morgan and Bayliss'
Following his dismissal to a dreadful shot, Eoin Morgan spent the remainder of the innings sitting alongside Paul Collingwood giggling and laughing his head off. This had obviously been picked up by Sky because the cameras kept going back to him on the balcony in hysterics.
You only have to compare the mindset of Eoin Morgan and Trevor Bayliss to that of Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting and it is no contest. Arrogance will only take you so far.

I would echo what you are saying and Bayliss in particular comes across as very relaxed and jokey on the balcony regardless of the situation. I suppose that is the atmosphere they have tried to create, but I am afraid from the outside it does not come across very well at all.
On the Morgan dismissal, compare and contrast with the reaction and hunger Smith displayed at his dismissal.
It is hard to escape the fact that Bayliss has been an expensive mistake for England, particularly now it seems likely we will make no impact on this tournament - the centre piece we have been building for since 2015.

sadly no if i was i'd by a lot wealthier, the bookies will be happy this morning,as they're likely to have been deluged with bets on England prior to the tournament.MACCA wrote:So your tipping 30% of the field, which also just happens to be the best 3 teams?

If i had to pick one i'd plump for India,Kohli might be a nightmare for umpires, hence this punishment.https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/48736290
But he's a winner,Morgan's too nice to be a captain,i want somebody that's going to do their damnedest to win at any costs, within the laws of the game naturally.
Some good news for England the start's been delayed in the NZ-Pakistan game, crazy we're having to perform a rain dance, sums up England's plight.

I'm sure he does but to me Bayliss comes across as though he couldn't care less. Just happy picking his no doubt huge salary up then sailing off into the sunset at the end of this summer. It's a total cop out to keep giving your wicket away when the going gets tough and then hiding behind the "positive cricket" mantra.
