Shouldn't that be Frank Lampard's Derby County have given permission to Chelsea to talk about becoming Frank Lampard's Chelsea

Who will last longer - Lampard at Chelsea or OGS at United?
Both gone by next summer I reckon.

If the Glazer's any idea they would Sack OGS now before he spends any cash, and if Abramovich had any idea he would never give it a thought employing Lampard, these two pretender 's getting job's that they will never get to grips with, while Rafa is going to be lost to Chinese football,a big loss to the Premier league is the Newcatle managerCnBtruntru wrote:Lampard 6 games - OGS 4 games

Man U, I think, have made a serious mistake with the OGD appointment. Couldn’t agree more, should have got rid at end of season.

We might laugh but the Chelsea fans will be buzzing about this. Not just because he's a Chelsea legend, but because he might actually play some of the youngsters. Good luck to him.

He might have no option but to play the youngsters if they can’t sign anyone

Re: Lampard : Rams Give Green Light To Chelsea
We appointed a Burnley legend to replace a Bolton legend. Neither worked out too well.
Still, with OGS and FL in charge it’s two less teams for us to worry about.

Nothing better than seeing “one of your own” come through the ranks.ClaretTony wrote:He might have no option but to play the youngsters if they can’t sign anyone
If that’s the way Chelsea go, I hope they and Lampard do well.

I get the impression Abramovich is losing a bit of interest as well. Instead of pumping more money in it's cheaper for him to give some of their home grown players a go.

Re: Lampard : Rams Give Green Light To Chelsea
Its a fantastic opportunity for Lampard. Transfer ban, Hazard gone and being one of their own. In my opinion he can only win. They have the players to have a top 4 side and be competitive. Couple that with attacking football compared to Sarri ball. Also bringing in a couple of youngsters during this transfer ban. If they work its not his fault they have a transfer ban...if it works he is a genius willing to give youth a chance.
No top manager would take on a the job with a transfer ban so in my opinion he is safe for a year. As long as they finish top 4/6 then he will be given the next year with a transfer budget.

It will be interesting to see whether this works out. Lampard has next to no experience for a job of that size. Incredible that there will be two absolute novices managing big 6 teams. There is a real chance for the likes of Leicester, Everton or ourselves (lol) to replace 2 of the top 6.

Whats he got to lose? They are under a transfer ban and fans will not expect too much especially with Hazard leaving too. Its an amazing opportunity which no matter how it ends he shouldnt lose much respect because of the issues there.

It was Bates who bought it for £1 and then sold to Abramovic for a fortune

Despite all that going on there will be a certain level of expectation and I suspect that will still be top 6. He’s done nothing to suggest he can manage at anywhere near that level.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Why?

Do you think he will get a free pass if they are outside the top ten just because Hazard’s gone, the embargo and he’s Frank Lampard?

The last time they gave the job to an ex player he went and won the Champions League. They still got rid of him in the next season when things weren’t as good as required.TheFamilyCat wrote:Despite all that going on there will be a certain level of expectation and I suspect that will still be top 6. Re: Lampard : Rams Give Green Light To Chelsea
I think a lot of the hope for the youth players with Lampard comes from his assistant boss being Jody Morris. Morris was a big part of the youth setup at Chelsea for a number of years until he went to Derby with Lampard so the expectation is that he'll know the youth players and help promote them.

What the problem?
Top teams around europe have been giving young inexperience managers the top jobs for years. It’s great ours are now instead of appointing has beens.

This is mentioned somewhere in the magic money thread and I didn't understand it then....Chelsea owe something like a billion quid to no one.....or something...as I say, I didn't understand it when I read it, but it was about only us and Chelsea being debt free, yet chelsea still had a debt and we didn't....beyond my ken a bit.

If the youth they are expecting great things from are Abraham, Timori & Mount they are in trouble.
I fully expect this to be a step to far for Frank. I won’t be crying in me beer.

Exactly. I think both Gerrard and Lampard had a good first season in management. It’s good that they’re staying in the game as they certainly don’t need the money.Dyched wrote:What the problem?

Out of interest was there the same general negativity when Dalglish was given the Liverpool job in the 80’s? He was 7 years younger than Lampard is now.
Re: Lampard : Rams Give Green Light To Chelsea
I haven't checked but I thought the situation was that although Chelsea themselves are debt free their parent company owes upwards of £1bn to Abramovich. In reality the situation isn't any different to those clubs where the money is owed directly to the owner.Tall Paul wrote:He isn't, the club don't owe him anything.
Re: Lampard : Rams Give Green Light To Chelsea
The parent company does owe over £1bn to Abramovich, but the club doesn't owe anything to the parent, the parent company holds a £1bn investment in subsidiary.aggi wrote:I haven't checked but I thought the situation was that although Chelsea themselves are debt free their parent company owes upwards of £1bn to Abramovich. How can Abramovich move the debt to the club?
Re: Lampard : Rams Give Green Light To Chelsea
I guess it depends what you view as the club. Chelsea Football Club Ltd which is where all the activity happens, owns the players, etc and actually owes £800m or so to Chelsea FC PLC.Tall Paul wrote:The parent company does owe over £1bn to Abramovich, but the club doesn't owe anything to the parent, the parent company holds a £1bn investment in subsidiary.

If you wanted to move the Abramovich debt down into Chelsea PLC I imagine Abramovich would loan the money to Chelsea FC PLC who would use it to reduce the share premium account and Fordstam would then use those funds to pay back Abramovich (although I'm hazy on whether that would be legal).
But in reality the Fordstam group activities are all Chelsea FC and they file group accounts on that basis. If anyone wanted to buy the club they'd be buying Fordstam, not just one of the subsidiaries.
Re: Lampard : Rams Give Green Light To Chelsea
But isn't there a level of protection for the club itself by having the debt as equity? As you've touched on, I don't think it's a simple process to reduce the share premium account, particularly in a PLC.aggi wrote:I guess it depends what you view as the club. Derby chairman Mel Morris:
"When Frank met me for the first time, we talked about this opportunity. We knew at some stage this was going to happen, we just didn't know when.
"Let's face it, that job comes around frequently so from that perspective there was always a risk."
Chelsea - 3 permanent managers since 2015
Derby - 5 permanent managers since 2015

Yes, it provides some protection but ultimately if Abramovich decided he wanted his money back there wouldn't really be much stopping him putting Chelsea into liquidation, selling off the assets and distributing the proceeds to Fordstam to pay off his loan.
Re: Lampard : Rams Give Green Light To Chelsea
Isn't that true of any owner of any club, with or without debt? Couldn't Mike Garlick and John B put Burnley into liquidation if they wanted to?aggi wrote:Ah, I didn't see where you were coming from.

Don’t see why they haven’t gone for Dyche, he’s great at operating under transfer embargoes.
