Sean Dyche

Post by No Ney Never » Thu Jun 27, 2019 9:34 am

I know it's just the gossip column, BBC website has it that Newcastle would have to stump up £10m compensation if they want our gaffa.
He's priceless to us, 10m would be no amount of compensation if we lost him.

He's currently 9th favourite with even Gerrard ahead of him.

3 years salary.
Little or nothing we could do if he wants to leave.
Hopefully he would not want to work for someone like Mike Ashley and would want to avoid the pressure of pleasing 50,000 fans every week who think they should be in the top 6 despite giving their managers getting very little to spend for the last decade.
There is a reason Rafa decided to leave despite his stock being so high with the fans that he could do no wrong.

Yes the reason being 12 million quid a year and zero pressure in China!

Nothing we can do if he decides to leave.

And nothing we can do if he thinks a move to a club run by Mike Ashley is in his best interests.

Is there any evidence of all these Newcastle fans that think they should be in the top 6 or are we just making things up to emphasise a point?

Yes I have loads of evidence
Box files full of written testimonies from tens of thousands of Geordies who are all saying that they firmly believe they should be a top six club - all signed and dated and everything.

Is that ok ?

Yep possibly - but he’s been pretty honest and clear with Newcastle that he can’t carry on performing miracles with such a small transfer budget and he wanted the club to meet his own ambitions.
I’m guessing that irrespective of whether he has a job lined up or not after several meetings with Ashley he didn’t want to spend another season waiting for the club to be taken over.

I hear you big fella !
I mean it was a crazy of me to even suggest that the fans of a club like Newcastle have high expectations...I mean it’s not like they are much bigger than Carlisle or Hartlepool.
Fortunately for me though I had all that written evidence so i know i’m on solid ground.

That Daily Mail article is a work of genius. It neither suggests Dyche is interested in Newcastle, nor that Newcastle are interested in Dyche - it just says what the price tag would be if Newcastle wanted him.

You could replace "Newcastle" with "Chelsea" and the substance, and the truth of it, would be absolutely unchanged.

But in the process, the Mail have created a story - of a sort - from absolutely nothing, beyond a little bit of intel about Dyche's contract at Burnley.

Well spotted. As my opinions go against the grain a little I often get tediously questioned about them scrutinising every little detail and requesting proof and evidence when im just giving my viewpoint and perception on something

TVC15 is one of the worst for being pedantic in this way when he thinks someone else is just making things up and coming out with hyperbole.

Thought i'd just do the same back but towards a more populist statement and maybe show how futile and boring it is

Anyhow back to the thread topic.

Dyche would jump at the chance to go and manage Newcastle and it would be a good career step forward. I could see his and Mike Ashley's pragmatic approach to not wasting money working well together

Cant see it happening though which is good news for us

I get that he thinks he looks at things from outside the box, to air alternative scenarios... they are generally flawed. I don’t think it’s another level, just a wind up merchant.

I was being sarcastic when I said for a minute I thought you were being a tw-at.....I knew you were being one from your first post.
If you seriously want the answer (even though you already know it)....then of course I don’t think ALL Newcastle fans think they should be in the top 6. But like Leeds fans a number of them do like to point out how big a club they are...especially compared to the likes of us.
The point that was being made was that in my opinion Dyche going to Newcastle would face a new level of pressure and expectation from their fans - even with a scenario where Burnley and Newcastle had similar transfer budgets.

But guess you knew all that anyway

Whilst we are posting a little more seriously my initial response was genuine to the extent that I think football fans are the same at all clubs relative to their position size and status and on here there is a real non supported view about different clubs and fans which I don't agree with

I don't think Newcastle fans do especially think of themselves as something better than they are anymore than a lot of Burnley fans think we are something special in terms of fans and knowledge etc.

Your point that he would come under more pressure is a fair and good point but I would say that is because Newcastle are a bigger club who rightly have more expectation rather than just insinuating its because the fans are somewhat delusional about themselves.

Next time I express a genuine view which maybe isn't that popular you'll at least come to my defence when the clever tw-at's start posting to me like I did to you.

Two things that I would point out that would stop this happening:-

(a) that Newcastle would want Dyche. They should do, I mean, if anyone is likely to sort out Newcastle it would be Lord Dyche of Doesnttakeanyshit.

(b) that Dyche would be mental enough to take the NUFC job. Unless, of course, he needs a pay off before having a nice, well-earned rest for a bit.

Its a typical filler story that basically says nowt, but implies things for the hard-of-thinking.

Lot of it about at this quiet out of season time.

IWhile I can't tell you how TVC arrived at that conclusion, I can tell you how I have.
I live and work in the North East among many NUFC season ticket holders. They firmly believe that because Ashley is a billionaire, he should be putting his hands in his pockets and 'investing' in the club. Given its size, they believe that they should be at least in the top 6. It's one of the main reasons why they protest so vociferously, they're frustrated at not competing at a level befitting such a big club.
They're resigned to the fact that they won't as long as Ashley owns the club, hence why they were creaming themselves when they thought a rich sheikh was going to buy it. The ability to compete with Liverpool and Man city were the cries.
They seem to have calmed down a bit lately as the realisation that it's quite possibly just another of Ashleys transfer window cons dawns upon them.

Patrick Vieira being muted as a possible appointment.

Bit left field but he's an ambitious manager,PL might appeal to him,now he's had a couple of years at Nice.

This could be a good shout. I suspect most will keep their heads down for now and waiting for the future ownership to be clearer before tying their colours to NUFC

Yes i suspect until the takeover is done and dusted the usual suspects will be wary about following in Rafa's shoes.

Could be a lot of young managers in the PL next season,OGS,Lampard,Howe,Silva,Sean at the age of 47 could almost be an elder statesman.

Would the Geordies be happy with Dyche?
A manager arriving from a smaller club with limited budget to a larger club with a limited budget. He may be seen as a good fit for Ashley but not a good move for Dyche, and not solving the problem for the Geordies.

OGS will be on his bike soon if he doesn't turn Uniteds poor form late last season around sharpish.

Suspect a few top names are hovering, waiting for that.
