Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Did the plans that got announced about Carlsberg brewery buying it and turning it into "The Kilby Arms" get scrapped?
Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Are they going to put another tier on it?

Either someone with money to burn and very brave or a simple tinpot fantasist . Virtually impossible for a “ matchday” boozer to turn a decent profit now most locals are no longer used/long since shut down .

Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Not sure if they've taken on the lease from Star Pubs or bought them out, but the posting I saw was from someone who already has a successful pub in the Ribble Valley. Sure that something official will come out at some point.
Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Bit surprised at this, really didn't expect it to reopen as a pub now. Good news though.

A chain of 3 successful food pubs I believeclaret wizard wrote:Not sure if they've taken on the lease from Star Pubs or bought them out, but the posting I saw was from someone who already has a successful pub in the Ribble Valley. Sure that something official will come out at some point.
Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Hopefully someone can make a go of it. Was really depressing seeing all that potential trade on a match day just standing around outside the bookies, club shop etc and the pub just sat there boarded up. As long as it's run properly it's a much better bet than the fanzone and cricket club.

The beers not the best out of plastic cups but it's alright on a nice day if crickets on or you have kids that like to play football on it.theroyaldyche wrote:Anythings better than the cricket club for a pint

Only problem is standing there for half an hour waiting to get served or when the police make them close the bar for no apparent reason.Quickenthetempo wrote:The beers not the best out of plastic cups but it's alright on a nice day if crickets on or you have kids that like to play football on it.

So who’s actually bought it?

Certainly a decreasing number of places to get a pint in a glass near the ground these days!

Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Always thought the club would end up owning it. Surely could have been made into an asset / addition to the match day experience.
Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Mmm Barnfield buying as a makeshift Burnley FC buy maybe?isn't it 10 months before ownership can change hands?

On a slightly related note, the Park View Chippy is open again too. Spoke to the owner and he said he had been in hospital with a serious illness but had now made a full recovery.

Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Will the new owners be licensed to sell Twix ?
Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
Who’s bought it and what’s with all the secrecy?
Ribble Valley pubs chain - James’ Places? Seafood Pub Company? Those who own the Calf’s Head and the Waggoners?
Surely none of those.
Edit: Seen on Facebook, it’s those who own the Station in Clitheroe. I hope the service is better but good luck to them!

Never have a plastic glass before a game but then I don’t drink in pubs/clubs where you can take your ale outside.SimplesSteve-Harpers-perm wrote:Certainly a decreasing number of places to get a pint in a glass near the ground these days!

Re: Park View - Phoenix from the flames
In a lot of places now it's licensing conditions, plastic glasses must be used for x hours before and after a game.Spike wrote:Never have a plastic glass before a game but then I don’t drink in pubs/clubs where you can take your ale outside.Simples

Anyone heard any more gossip about the pub reopening? Seems to have gone a bit quiet, hope it hasn't fallen through.
