The 3:33 demo
The 3:33 demo
Found this on YouTube. It's a Burnley newsreel from 1996.First couple of minutes has footage of the 3:33 demo.Who came up with the idea for fans to turn their backs on the game and why was 33 minutes significant? Also lots of other footage of things taking place locally during 1996.

Re: The 3:33 demo
I was there but what I remember most is Dario Gradi's arrogant comments in the LET.
"I couldn't believe the reaction of the Burnley crowd.....Its a bit like the crowd asking for the substitutes to come on. I wouldn't stand for that from the supporters. They should not be hiring and firing managers. Its absolutely nothing to do with them. Just because they pay their money to come in it doesn't mean they can do that."
I stood up at a 180 degree angle because although feeling as helpless as everyone I felt a bit sorry for Mullen and Teasedale!

It was most unfortunate for many young footballers that Gradi and his club effectively looked the other way on what was happening at their Academy

Re: The 3:33 demo
The 3.33 protest was Tony Livesey's idea. I know because I was sat next to him at the Mechanics when he came up with the idea. ClaretTony was there too. The idea was to do something so novel that it would attract significant media attention. It worked to the extent that it got lots of media coverage but failed in its mission to get rid of Frank Teasdale, resulting instead in Teasdale sacking Jimmy Mullen.
Re: The 3:33 demo
Thanks for that.Any idea on the 33 minutes into the match?

I very definitely wasn’t there but you are right in saying that it was intended to get rid of Teasdale. Mullen was sacked but Teasdale was against that decision.Sausage wrote:The 3.33 protest was Tony Livesey's idea. I know because I was sat next to him at the Mechanics when he came up with the idea. I was at a meeting in the late 80s at which Gradi spoke. Arrogant was an understatement. So full of himself it wasn’t true.COBBLE wrote:I was there but what I remember most is Dario Gradi's arrogant comments in the LET.

The protest was embarrassing. I continued to watch as normal but saw dozens trying to crane their necks round to watch the game. Made us look ridiculous.

There are pics showing considerable numbers of our fans with their backs turned.Cirrus_Minor wrote:The protest was embarrassing. I continued to watch as normal but saw dozens trying to crane their necks round to watch the game. Made us look ridiculous.
