So confirmed WBA accept 5.5 mill offer for Dawson. Means we will not be getting him I see that as a plus.

Good price that for dawsonTexanclaret16 wrote:So confirmed WBA accept 5.5 mill offer for Dawson. Means we will not be getting him I see that as a plus.

What sources?wilks_bfc wrote:What do you mean?
There were links and sources and everything saying that he was
Don’t these West Brom special offers end this weekend?Reecey1987 wrote:Good price that for dawson
Tomato perhaps.ClaretTony wrote:What sources?
The sources that everyone was talking about in the links threadClaretTony wrote:What sources?
HITC, teamtalk & the Mailwilks_bfc wrote:The sources that everyone was talking about in the links thread
I mean they were from the reputable sources such as HITC, teamtalk and the Mail so must have been some truth in it
And if you can tell I’m most disappointed that this hasn’t been correct
I thought it was middle of july ? Did they not do same with rondon last seasonClaretTony wrote:Don’t these West Brom special offers end this weekend?
Is it mid-July? There was a similar situation with Rondon last year as you say.Reecey1987 wrote:I thought it was middle of july ? Did they not do same with rondon last season
Makes you wonder what?jedi_master wrote:Would have been a fantastic signing for us at that price and clearly a player Dyche has desperately wanted for about four years, so this does make you wonder along with Adams going to Southampton.
Fantastic signing to sit on the bench as 4th choice. Dyche did want him, then we signed Gibson insteadjedi_master wrote:Would have been a fantastic signing for us at that price and clearly a player Dyche has desperately wanted for about four years, so this does make you wonder along with Adams going to Southampton.
Why we have either torn up our target list of players that I think most assumed heavily included Dawson and Adams in particular or were unwilling to pay for both players when we have previously bid more for both than they have ended up going for.ClaretTony wrote:Makes you wonder what?
Would walk into our team at right back, in my opinion. Just as adept there as in the centre and neither Lowton or Bardsley have that position nailed.Grumps wrote:Fantastic signing to sit on the bench as 4th choice. Dyche did want him, then we signed Gibson instead
If we need a right back, I don't think Dawson would be on anyone's list, not particularly the young attacking full back that would fit into the side. If the price is correct, iam sure if we'd wanted him we'd have got him.jedi_master wrote:Would walk into our team at right back, in my opinion. So you think that we don't need to improve the team?ElectroClaret wrote:No better than what we've got.
As long as we hold on to what we've got.
Dawson isn't better than Mee or Tarkowski so wouldn't have improved the team.summitclaret wrote:So you think that we don't need to improve the team?
So are you saying Dawson is better than Mee or Tarks? Or even Gibson?summitclaret wrote:So you think that we don't need to improve the team?
I agree.Spijed wrote:Dawson isn't better than Mee or Tarkowski so wouldn't have improved the team.
As I posted, imo he's no better, so he wouldn't have improved us.summitclaret wrote:So you think that we don't need to improve the team?
I would be happy to describe Long as "steady" - "excellent" may be stretching reality a bit too far.SalisburyClaret wrote:Dawson will be a decent enough squad signing for Watford
We have 4 excellent central defenders so no need for us to worry
I agree that Tarks, mee and Gibbo are better. However, unfortunately i feel someone will meet Tark's release fee this window. It may be good news that we have missed out Dawson but I worry about our ability to get who we want these days.ElectroClaret wrote:As I posted, imo he's no better, so he wouldn't have improved us.
Probably be sat on his arse a la Vydra.

Ha give over we have been after him for 4 seasons now - stop trying to make it look like we were never in for him.ClaretTony wrote:What sources?

He's certainly good enough for the Championship.BOYSIE31 wrote:Steady is an over statement league 1 at best
No don't personally think so as if he had something about him he would have been playing at that level for the last few years - never understand players who are happy to be squad players only thoughSpijed wrote:He's certainly good enough for the Championship.
Exactly this ,BOYSIE31 wrote:No don't personally think so as if he had something about him he would have been playing at that level for the last few years - never understand players who are happy to be squad players only though
Are they happy to be squad players though? Maybe they've had some heart to heart conversations with the manager and the manager has made them believe in themselves and made them determined to push for a starting spot?BOYSIE31 wrote:never understand players who are happy to be squad players only though
But never going to happen - if we lose tarks Gibson will be in not longFactualFrank wrote:Are they happy to be squad players though? I think he has that bit more premier league experience but not happening now anywayElectroClaret wrote:And isn't a "squad player" exactly what Dawson would be if he came here though?
Not saying he'd be happy with it, but however you frame it, that's what it'd amount to.
How long have we been trying to sign this lad? 5 years?BOYSIE31 wrote:But never going to happen - if we lose tarks Gibson will be in not long
Who says he’s happy to just be a squad player? He’s been an important member of our team, making 22 PL appearances in 2 seasons. That’s more than 25%. He knows that if there’s an injury to one of our first choice centre backs he will he given the trust of the manager.BOYSIE31 wrote:No don't personally think so as if he had something about him he would have been playing at that level for the last few years - never understand players who are happy to be squad players only though
You're going to get people banging on about the left/right foot now.BOYSIE31 wrote:But never going to happen - if we lose tarks Gibson will be in not long
That’s as big an out of context reply as I’ve seen. We tried to sign him five years ago and once since. I don’t believe we were in for him this summer at all and eventually last year our main defensive target was Alfie Mawson who had agreed a deal and then shot off to Fulham.BOYSIE31 wrote:Ha give over we have been after him for 4 seasons now - stop trying to make it look like we were never in for him.
You were only quoted the other week saying that Dyche is a big fan so no surprise we are after him again.
Let's face it our recruitment policy is a shambles - this season we need to spend that bit more on players and if it also means wages then so be it.
You commented about Dawson a month or so ago Tony and said as much that dyche must like him if we were in for him again - I know he doesn't ring you to tell you our transfer dealings before they happenClaretTony wrote:That’s as big an out of context reply as I’ve seen. And if our recruitment policy was a shambles I can assure you we wouldn’t be playing Premier League football.
