Dwight McNeil - Juventus
Dwight McNeil - Juventus
Nixon reporting McNeil has caught the attention of Juventus. £30m. Saw him at Toulon and want another look.
Spurs interested but not at that price.
Make of that what you will.

Re: Dwight McNeil
He certainly looks a class act so I'm not too surprised.
Will be interesting to see if he can sustain his form this season or if he'll prove to be a bit of a flash in the pan

Yeah .... totally reasonable comparing a lad with less than 25 first team appearances to him.

He still struggles to be consistently good even now.
As for France, he's played for them 5 times since he joined spurs, probably a reflection of his poor form..
Re: Dwight McNeil - Juventus
Sissoko is not really a winger and I thought he had a good season last year. Super fit, strong, his only failing is in front of goal. I'd have him at the Turf.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Spurs paid £30 million for that winger Sissoko who is so inconsistent it's stopped being funny

Sissoko £30m = McNeil £425m

Re: Dwight McNeil - Juventus
Thankfully we're nowadays in a position where we dont "have" to sell. We're not (anywhere near) in the red & dont have players on crippling salaries (a la Sanchez) that have to be got off the payroll asap. We’d have to sell for that price.
If it transpires, at some stage, we wish to sell (for the benefit of all parties) - we wont be desperate and will be in a strong position to get an appropriate price for an up and coming talent.
Not the time to sell right now; hopefully he'll develop his career successfully with us for a while yet.

Re: Dwight McNeil - Juventus
Sissoko isn't a winger, so it's pretty pointless comparing him with McNeil.
As for £30 million, although we don't technically need it, we'd still find it difficult to turn down. Even if we did, a lot would depend on McNeil himself. If he wanted to move to a club like Juventus, I think we'd find it hard to stand in his way.
He's a class act and I'm not surprised big clubs are interested in him. I hope we can get a full season out of him before the inevitable move.

Potentially a year to early but I guess hell have an eye on the likes of Sancho who have made a good impact in a major European team.
Hope it's just paper talk, I can't see him being able to turn it down.

Since when has Sissoko been a winger?
Re: Dwight McNeil - Juventus
£30m is far too low in the current market. He’s got 4 years on his contract, so we should be looking at a minimum of £40m. Wan-Bissaka, who is older than McNeil and a full-back (who tend to cost less than forward players) just went for £50m. There’s talk of Kalvin Phillips and Adam Webster in the Championship costing upwards of £25m if their clubs were to sell them. We’re in the strongest position financially that we’ve ever been in.

Re: Dwight McNeil - Juventus
For a bit of context.
Clyne cost 12.5m 4 years ago.
That probably equates to about 30m now (if not more)
Dwight had Clyne on toast to such an extent last season that Clyne was still trying to find him in the dressing room at halftime before he was hooked and never returned for the second half.
I said at the time that we would get serious offers from the very top for this guy. As others have said it may be a year early but 30m is on the low side for what he could become (even this season). Hard to turn down the likes of Juve and as others have said we may not need to sell, however, he will be outgrowing us very soon.

For a bit of context, Ian Cox cost us £500,000 20 years ago.
The market has moved on since then and it’s fair to suggest if Cox cost that amount, then McNeil should not be sold for anything less than a trillion pounds.

If he has 4 years to run on a contract then we need to keep him for the next 3 seasons and hope he makes good steady progress and hopefully an England cap or two and then see what we can get for him
Re: Dwight McNeil - Juventus
I was pretty much going to post the same thing. £30m might seem like a daft money for a lad who's had only half a season but, put in him any other Prem team on a comparable level with us (i.e. not "Top Six"), and offers of £50m would be being touted.BFC123 wrote:£30m is far too low in the current market. We avoided relegation due to McNeil. Simple mathematics shows this as a terrible move unless we bring in someone as good.

If he has a good first half of the season we could command £50m in January or even more than that. Or possibly even more in the summer if he has an amazing season. The English clubs will come running for him then, that’s where we will make the big bucks

Not surprised there is interest. Top player in the making.
Depends on the risk management, get him now for a set price which I see as relatively low or wait for him to prove himself in a full season and pay a higher fee but have certainty.

When you think about it logically, you then come to the conclusion that McNeil won't be going anywhere this summer.

Other teams just think they can steamroll us into selling a player because of our size of being a Town team pretty much, its happened in the past were we have had to sell our best talent to balance the books.
This could end up an exodus Gibson Tarkowski, Heaton, Hart, McNeil and Barnes
How would we go about signing players if that lot went a dread to think
