I was wrong. Jamie (shut up, Paul) is playing mixed doubles now. I couldn't see his name in the draw yesterday.tiger76 wrote:Jamie Murray clearly didn't read the script,of course the Murray brothers could still meet in the mixed doubles.

Unbelievable what she has achieved at such a young age but winning a grand slam is something different altogether.ClaretDiver wrote:Brilliant match in the end.....Gauff kept her cool and showed why she will win a Grand Slam in the very near future!
Not that I watch a lot of women's tennis but she seems to be a very cautious player. Hitting returns straight down the middle hoping her opponents will make the mistake, rather than fire it down the line.
It's obviously worked so far but as the opponents get better they will work her out.

Harriet Dart v Barty today centre court. Should be a brilliant experience for her no matter the outcome. Konta on court one against Stephens. Dan Evans on after them.

Re: Wimbledon
It's weird with Konta she seems to freeze when she's the heavy favourite in a match, happened at the French when she crashed out in a SF against an unseeded opponent, and it happened again today,on both occasions she started strongly and got an early break, but she couldn't see out the set,and as the matches went on her standard dropped and her opponent gained a belief.
You have to wonder how many more shots will Jo get at a slam, she's not getting any younger and the competition will only become fiercer.
Oh! well over to the England cricket team and Lewis Hamilton to rescue a disappointing sporting summer.

The pure fact it's on grass gives Fed a fair shot,on clay he'd struggle, but Wimbledon's a different kettle of fish, however prevails will have to be on top form to beat Djokovic on Sunday.Rodneyyouplonker wrote:Anyone watching The fedex vs Rafa. Should be a cracker, hoping for a Federer win
Some British success to report a title in the Quad Wheelchair Doubles today, and the chance of singles success on Saturday also, well done to Andy Lapthorne.

Wow the old stager's still got it,Roger-Novak final,if Serena and Roger pull off a double victory, the men's and ladies singles champs would have a combined age of 74,that must be a record if it happens, lot's of tennis to play before that though.

That'll cheer up the young pretenders FF,but as long as he can play to this standard, and his fitness holds up why not keep going.FactualFrank wrote:And you'd imagine Federer will be back next year as well. He could last until his early 40s at this rate.
Since 2016/17 he has almost carved out a second stage of his career,he take a year out and boy was that the right call,he's come back better than ever.

It already is Fed he was 35 nearly 36 when he beat Cilic in 2017,so if he wins on Sunday he'll beat his own record,i think the same also applies to Serena, clearly age is just a number to these two, amazing to think that Borg retired at 26/27,just shows how much sports science has moved on in the last few decades.Rodneyyouplonker wrote:Who is the oldest winner? Good find FF,i think they only count the open era for records though,so from 1968 onwards, when pro's and amateurs competed together,i didn't realise this was so recent, you learn something new every day.FactualFrank wrote:Just checked - Arthur Gore was 41 and 184 days old.
