I hope so and still looking forward to it today. Just felt such an anti climax yesterday as the race was so good with so much potential to explode in different waysChester Perry wrote:It could still go that way - there will be very few left by the time they are half-way up - possibly just a handful - the nutrition both in prep and through the ride is going to have to be carefully managed as the power outputs will be much higher than a normal days ride - could be an absolute monster

Looks like today’s definitive stage is going to be affected by weather and the possibility of more landslides, even after already being reduced.

Thunderstorms predicted and already happened - debris spilled across the finish line already - will they get to complete the stageTheFamilyCat wrote:Looks like today’s definitive stage is going to be affected by weather and the possibility of more landslides, even after already being reduced.

I hope so, for the sake of the race. there isn’t as obvious a ‘revised’ finishing line as there was yesterday. It will be more difficult to resolve if they do have to cut it short.

Re: Tour de France 2019
That is my concern - though you would imagine ASO have factored this into their thinking - If I was a sporting Director I would be demanding to know the timing points so I could plan my riders efforts especially if I want to get on the podium

Re: Tour de France 2019
Was really pee’d off yesterday as it’s the first stage I hadn’t watched until the highlights and I just thought it has totally ruined the race.
But, the way Bernal attacked yesterday he deserves to be in yellow. And today’s stage could get interesting being so short. Here’s hoping......

Re: Tour de France 2019
Can't believe that Ineos didn't do the full "s**thouse on the French and get Bernal into the polka-dot jersey as well.
Next year Ineos could line up with 3 TDF winners in the team - does Froome (if he makes a full recovery) get a chance at immortality and 5 wins or does Bernal get the chance to become the greatest ever with a team that has won 7 of the last 9 with 4 different riders (surely a record in itself)

Or Carapaz?!!!
I can’t see Froome making a full comeback, by then anyway. But then again you can’t bet against him!

Anyone had a bet on the winner of the final stage? That tiny Australian is the bookies favourite

Re: Tour de France 2019
Has a yellow jersey wearer ever had a disaster on the last stage (since it’s been a processional stage)? What is the protocol?
Froome has a tangle with a McD’s bag a couple of years ago but I can’t recall anything more serious.

It would be interesting to see what they would do if the yellow jersey had a puncture now

Re: Tour de France 2019
Wouldnt he just jump on one of his team mates bike and have a few riders to sprint him on to the backend of the pelaton which would give him same time as leaders and so not be in any trouble at allFenwick wrote:It would be interesting to see what they would do if the yellow jersey had a puncture now

Re: Tour de France 2019
I was thinking of something a bit more serious than a puncture; more like a crash which left him down for a few minutes.

Re: Tour de France 2019
It would be an interesting one but I would expect all the GC riders to slow down and ride in with him and let the sprinters and lead out men nowhere near the lead carry on with the racingTheFamilyCat wrote:I was thinking of something a bit more serious than a puncture; more like a crash which left him down for a few minutes.
With teammate Thomas in 2nd the above would be even more likely as only really 4th place wood gain by jumping to a podium place and dont think they would be that unsporting for that gain

Looks like I called it pretty well.claret wizard wrote:So Bernal would be the favourite for me.
I'm also wondering if Alaphilippe is worth an outside chance after his efforts last year in KotM. Cheeky chance at the GC if it falls his way?

Chris Froome hoping to be back for next years TDF. Horrific injury list for a pro cyclist.

Got a double whammy next year. Budapest for the start of the Giro & Paris for last day of TdF.
We did the giro into Dublin a few years back. 50m from the finishing line and had to watch the big screen as all the cameras went up in the air. Should be calmer this time as it’s the Time Trial. At least we get to see them all.

I was at Verona for the final time trial this year. It was fantastic. The speed they go is phenomenal! Budapest for that weekend sounds very appealing.Tricky Trevor wrote:Got a double whammy next year. Budapest for the start of the Giro & Paris for last day of TdF.

Re: Tour de France 2020
Next years tour route has been revealed and it could be right up chris froomes street. Plenty of climbing and a very favourable TT. Assuming he can catch up with his fitness of course.
