We got it because it was a foul. Not big and heavy, but the touch was enough to prevent her striking the ball.

All over now after the sending off. Poor poor challenge.

Not as bad as the female co presenter. Just said houghton didn’t strike the ball cleanly on the pen. Yes she did. She struck it well enough, the direction was poor. Far too close to the keeper.

They're playing the world champions in a world cup semi final and were inches and a bad penalty away from winning 3-2. I think they've performed very well.

Jonathan Pearce must be being paid by The Women's FA or whatever it is to TRY to make out it's all exciting and absolutely scintillating STUFF, when it clearly isn't. It's slow and littered with mistakes and hospital passes you wouldn't see up Towneley. I won't be watching again in a hurry. (And that penalty was garbage. It nearly didn't reach!)

Penalty decision correct. Bout time VAR got something so crucial and so unclear right.

Some really good passages of play, some awful passing.

Women’s game come on in leaps and bounds. Enjoyed it overall.

I think if they get a grip of the passing requirements as per the men's game they could win it next time.

The US are by far the most professional team in this tournament. Fittest, pressed best, knew how to win fouls and manage the game. A step ahead of all the others.

Hard luck England. Loved this World Cup. Lots of mistakes, poor passing, etc but exciting stuff. And very little play acting by the players.
The penalty decision was correct but why did it take that long to make the decision? We could see on the BBC straight away that she’d been clipped.
And how many millimetres was that offside? It seems impossible for anyone to be level

A lot of work to do on passing and movement but an entertaining and pretty successful campaign. They'll win the Euros.

Are our players professional full time athletes? No excuse to not be fit enough in my opinion. If its a matter of strength then there's only so far you can get, but stamina shouldn't be an issue for any international footballer regardless of gender.

I enjoyed the game, second half thought we were better. It's been surprisingly good overall the tournament but interest will wane now we're out.

I do think if it was at the same time as any English club competition I'd not have bothered mind.

And know how to cheat like the men’s game, there really was no need for them to dive or “manage” the game with cramp - they’re better than that, but they did the ugly side of it really well - which is a shame.

Absolutely. Defenders reaction to the yellow was all the evidence needed. No arguing, no “yeah but” just a “thank you ref” and off she popped.

I think the England girls were plenty fit enough and were quite happy to attack the Yanks but hadn't enough speed or guile to penetrate.
That sounds a bit dodgy but you get my drift.

Game management and professionalism I think they call it. Whether we like it or not, it’s part of the game and here to stay. There are definitely some elements of the men’s game creeping into the women’s game sadly.

I'd agree to an extent. In England they've only been professional for a couple of years though. It's been much longer in the US, it will probably take a few more years to catch up.
