He said in a radio interview last week he’s training with Fleetwood and that Joey Barton has been really good with him whilst he’s looking for a club (for the first time in his career he said).

Out of contract players regularly train with clubs close to their homes or where they have contacts, it means nothing at all in terms of whether he will sign for that particular club. For example, he may well be good friends with Aaron Lennon from their days at Everton together and through AL he’s asked if he can train with us.

I can see Crouch silencing the negative crew and finishing around the 10 goal mark next season, give or take a few.
Prime of his career ?

Why since Austin? Did you become a fan then? or are you setting goalposts for my opinion? We sold Keane and Gray in the space of two weeks.

Btw you are one of the numpties I was referring to, trying to convince us all Crouch was a brilliant signing meanwhile really we all know you couldn’t even convince yourself that rubbish.

You really do have a selective memory. I don't recall trying to convince anyone that Crouch was a brilliant signing - and I look forward to seeing any quotes to the contrary. I did say that if Dyche thought he could do a job, and for that matter if he thinks he could do a job next year to - then that's good enough for me. That's not the same as "brilliant".

So if you want to descend to playground level, yah boo sucks made you look you dirty duck you washed your face in cow muck. Numpty yourself.

Obviously we sold Keane and Gray. Keane wanted to go, Tarkowski was more than ready to replace him - we could have kept an unhappy Keane in the reserves for a year and let him go for free the following summer, but I doubt that would have benefitted the club.

As for Gray, he was sold and replaced by Wood. A man who has scored 20 goals in two seasons whereas Gray has scored 12.

If you are dreaming of the days when Burnley would keep all their players happy no matter what other club came calling, then dream on. Players sometimes want to move on no matter what.

On balance, I think the club has done a good job to be where we are. Presumably, you disagree. And on balance, I hope things go on as before; and again, I suppose you disagree.

We’re better without Keane but he was absolutely one of our best players, he’s been rank bad since he left though, doesn’t look capable of defending without all 11 behind the ball.

Not that it will happen.

I am one you might call a happy clapper.

I ******* LOVE the way my club does business.

Look at the polls for team of the decade, look at the quality that didn't even make the bench.

I'll defend the crouch signing because I remember the Robinson signing, and a young nick pope quietly being trained, it doesn't necessarily bear obvious fruit every time, but we are bloody good transfer wise, and I'll defend it to anyone who dares attack it.

I think I nailed it about Williams and Jagielka was/is definitely on the wane.

Shame because a younger Jagielka would be the first name on the team sheet for 2/3rds of the PL.

Well Chris Woods (deliberate) is offside too much, Hendricks (again) is awful, we are cheap and only sign old has beens with a nice temperament and we don't have a reserve left back.

Still plenty to go at lads.

Apparently David Jones is training with us today. Could be the central midfielder we've been waiting for

Some of the comments having a go at our transfer policy are just ridiculous. You don't get to where we are by being crap in the transfer market.

Some of you negative twonks should just step back and take a look at the big picture of Burnley FC - it makes for pretty good viewing.

The thing that people don't seem to take into account, when they put forward the " haven't we done well " argument, is that teams change. We have done well in previous windows and overall our recrtuitment activities have been acceptable given our circumstances.

However, the recruitment team we have now is not the recruitment team that was responsible for bringing in all the players that are being used to as evidence to substantiate achievement. It's like reading a newspaper from three years ago to get a good account of what is happening today.

Our performance in terms of our recruitment has got worse in recent years. I'm not blaming Martin Hodge, because he was brought to the club to do a different job than recruitment. He has simply stepped up to the plate and done his best, even though it isn't his specialist area ( he is sort of like the Hendrick of the recruitment team ).

That being said, we have just brought in Rigg and we have given him the power to affect things and the investment to make things happen. We didn't throw him under the bus in the last window, but he has had more than enough time to bed in and plan an effective strategy for this window.

We still have quite a lot of time left on the clock for this window, but If all of that new investment doesn't translate into a noticable improvement in our recruitment, or we experience another poor window, I think it is fair to ask questions about whether we need to go back to the drawing board and set about making additional changes sooner rather than later.

I think 8 months should be enough for a specialist with a career lifetime of experience in a given area to make a positive difference to an organisation. A completed project, no, a demonstrated step in the right direct, yes.

Approve of everything he did or not, Mc Parland made an impact in 5 months with less freedom to act and investment.

Jagielka is a class act. Make no mistake this would be a brilliant signing if he came on a 1 year deal. Many class centre backs have played into their late 30s and early forties.

So he's being binned off by some on here before he's made a first step because he didn't make it 2-3 weeks ago?

Ok cool.

Quote from Dyche on them being with us.

“Phil won’t be in today as he’s talking to a club. It’s just been to help him out really, he’s a great pro and I’ve known him a few years. If that doesn’t work out, we’re open to him coming back.

"Dave Jones has been in as well, our former player - a fantastic servant.

"I’ve no problem helping out people, Dave Edgar came in at the end of last year to make sure he got some training time.

“We try to accommodate former players and people we know."

I thought it was common knowledge at the end of last season he was going to Shef Utd. Probably letting the dust settle on a bit of internal unrest there /getting assurances it’s sorted etc..

Some of the bed wetting by some ‘fans’ on here and fb is embarrassing and boring.

Hopefully a great example for some of the posters on here with amazing imagination to just calm themselves down a bit.

No sooner had we brought him in he’d decided to f-uck off to Scotland for more money.
Sorted the Andre Gray deal and Joey Barton literally said he was crucial in him signing for Burnley.

Take those two out of that side and we don’t even make the Play-Offs.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Jones given a deal, Dyche loved him. Be ready to set up a Chernobyl style exclusion zone as this board goes into utter meltdown.

Jones won’t be signing. It’s three years since we let him go, he played only a few minutes last year. He’s offered him an opportunity to train so he’ll be ready if and when a club make him an offer.
