Re: Has Joe Hart been released
A reminder: Joe Hart had a year left on his contract with City when we signed him. City made up his wage when he came to Burnley to the amount that Hart was due under City contract - until the end of his contract period with City - according to all the reports at the time - and on here many times.
So, Burnley weren't and aren't now paying Joe what he was getting at City.
Sorting out the 3 keepers issue is not about "we can't afford to pay Joe Hart's wage" - it's just we don't need and can't pick 3 keepers.
It will get sorted.

City made up Hart's wages with the 3m we gave them as a fee.Paul Waine wrote:A reminder: Joe Hart had a year left on his contract with City when we signed him. It was done that way to keep his wahe's in line with our top earners and not go way beyond.

I remain baffled, as to why he was signed, given the availability of Heaton, 1 week later.

Hi Quicken, that's another way of looking at how the money flowed. I've got no problem with that. I guess it means we got Joe Hart on a free - with high wages.Quickenthetempo wrote:City made up Hart's wages with the 3m we gave them as a fee.

Sounds like letting him go on a free - and saving this season's wages will be a great deal for Burnley.
I wonder how many on here will be happy with Joe exitting on a free?
We also got Tom Heaton on a free.......
Hang on, I'm not sure that's how these things are supposed to work, is it?

Re: Has Joe Hart been released
Because Heaton was coming from a long layoff with what is quite a major injury for someone whose job is to dive around and could easily have suffered a reoccurance?IanMcL wrote:I remain baffled, as to why he was signed, given the availability of Heaton, 1 week later.

Or do people not remember that Charlie Austin only has to think about falling on the floor for his shoulder to dislocate.

Re: Has Joe Hart been released
There was no certainty that Heaton would be available one week later. There was some concern over the calf injury and we've seen what can happen with players coming back from long lay offs due to a serious injury.IanMcL wrote:I remain baffled, as to why he was signed, given the availability of Heaton, 1 week later.
