I saw that yesterday. It’s sad to think of what he could’ve achieved had his head been right.

Just shows how quickly we as a nation have educated on mental illness. No one had any idea he suffered mental problems, if it were now I’m sure 50%+ of fans would recognise the symptoms Alan showed, even at times on the pitch.

Shame it rarely happened for him in a Burnley shirt, with obvious exceptions...

I commend his bravery.

There was a period when he first joined us on (as I recall?) a short term deal where him on the left and Glen on the right were unplayable.

Start of the 2001/02 season. That was until we got to Norwich and they did him with a shocking challenge.

It's really good that players are comfortable with talking about mental health issues now.

Trying to think what the spark might have been that helped to break down the barriers

Clarke Carlisle maybe? I know that Stan Collymore (regardless of what people might think about other aspects of his life) has done a lot to promote the discussion of mental health in football in the last few years

Yes and then Moore got a long contract and was never the same player. Most have drove Stan and Barry mad that.

Nothing to do with his contract. He signed a new deal and the day after got an injury that required surgery.
