Horrendous airport with a shocking record for losing luggage if transferring flights

I've only been once en route to Brazil. I had to sit between two elderly French women for however many hours it was, due to a cock up at the airport - on par with losing your luggage. Nightmare.

Used the airport twice and luggage not put on second flight both times. I’d been warned it was bad.

I hope you had a spare change of underwear in your hand luggage.

Unless you're flying on a SkyTeam carrier like Air France...

I've been through CDG a few times, never had an issue - BA and Terminal 5 at LHR is where you want to go if you want to lose your luggage !

Not had the pleasure of using CDG .... but my m8 is currently working in Morocco and has been travelling via CDG lately with no problems (so far)

We are flying out to Singapore via Munich with Lufthansa next spring.... its somewhere we have passed through before fairly easily....

Always pack spare underwear in your hand luggage because you never know...

Plus if 2 of you are travelling (especially hubby and wifelet) make sure you split your clothes between your cases just in case one case goes a w o l ... saves having to borrow the wifes kit or vice versa (unless of course thats your thing ;))

Used it last Christmas and half our presents went missing
Then when we went through hand luggage scanner took our Christmas pud off us and jars of chutney and the cranberry and brandy sauce
Then after all that had to land 300 miles from our destination because of a 2 hr delay from CDG
Absolute mare

Picked a hire car up there recently. Signage to get out of there was typically cack French. Circled round the roundabout area outside the terminal about 4 times!

As above straight 5 minutes walk. Note that there are 3 gates within TE and you may need to get the train depending which one.

Hate the place with a vengeance. On route from Romania, transfer at CDG. Landed on time rushed round to get my flight to Manchester. Went to check in and they couldn’t find my details and sent me to customer service with a card to get sorted. Ignorant girl there said I was late and my plane had gone. I said they are still queuing at the check in. She then proceeded to type on her computer for the next hour while the queue behind me grew bigger. By the time her manager appeared my flight had gone. 12 hour overnight stay on the curb outside waiting for the next flight home. They refused me a hotel even though they admitted being at fault, unless I paid 300 euros. So curb it was. I mean they gave me a free flight home !! Worst airport in Europe

No it isn't. Groupe ADP own CDG and they became a private company in April 2005.

Group ADP's majority shareholder ( 50.6% ) is the French Government, according to the " French Transport Code ", this must remain so, which is what Macron is trying to change. Group ADP is governed by 18 " administrators ", 6 appointed by the French Government, 6 by the Unions, and 6 by Shareholders ....

I forgot that private ownership improves everything.

Macron will sort it.

A toss up for me which is the worst airport - CDG or Havana. Won't find out for certain 'cos I'm not going back to either.

Went there once a few years ago on a work trip and never again, an awful airport.

Now when I book my travel abroad for work I always select a connection to be done in Amsterdam, even if it means waiting for the connection for 2/3 hours I would rather wait in Amsterdam than go to CDG

CDG is much better now than it was when they were developing it a few years back but you still often need to use the train to move around terminal E. But Schiphol/Amsterdam is the model, where all the gates run off a central area and you can walk from any gate to another well within 15 minutes. It takes so much pressure off if you have a connecting flight.

So, not really owned and operated by the government then... They own several airports in other countries as well.

Our government own 62% of RBS but no one would state they are state-operated.

Semantics, but we're both right in our own way .... I remember the days when Pickfords removals and their travel agency business ( 2nd biggest in the UK at the time ) were state owned ... ;)
