Tony you just beat me by a few game to my first game on the Turf which was a 5-3 win against Newcastle a United on 31st December 1960. I can't come away near your record of only missing 8 games since but I would guess I've seen over 750 games at home.ClaretTony wrote:Frightening to think how much it’s cost me and I don’t know how many I’ve been to.
What I do know is my first game was in October 1960 and I’ve only missed 8 home games since.
How many actual Burnley games have you actually seen?

Devotion by the many.
My record is poor by comparison.
I grew up in Reading, so first match was versus Reading, at Elm Park. FA Cup.1965.
1969 I left school and went to every London match, thereafter, by train. Carried on like that through the seventies with other places like Southampton, Oxford, Swindon, Coventry added. Had large mortgage by mid 70's! 80's moved to Salisbury, wife at home with baby, VERY large mortgage but managed about 7-10 games a season, all away, other than Easter pilgrimage to Turf Moor 2 matches at Easter!). 90's much the same but wth range extended from 100 to 150 miles each way, in a day and 1st, last and a big match or 2.
Noughties, addiction increased to 170 miles each way in a day, so more matches.
That continued and more 'weekends' with Mrs McL, for home matches.
2014 28 Dec, Mrs McL died....what do I do now?
Go to rest of season matches and then get season ticket, to keep me sane.
So, now lots of away added to season ticket.
Add semi finals, finals and Aberdeen, and Athens on my later in life Euro trips.
Cannot match the earlier posters, however, it has been 'as many as was possible'.
Watching Burnley helps me, as I call on Mrs McL to help us out, so she is with me in spirit.
First bumped into CT at Brighton, on a Tuesday night at Withdean stadium!
Up the Clarets.

A fair few since I 1st saw the Clarets in 1964 against Stoke City; but nowhere near the number of matches true supporters have witnessed over the intervening years. I went to see Jimmy Mac. It was his 1st match back I think; I wasn't impressed. Heresy.
...and the money I've spent, ?? The rest I've just wasted as they say.

supported them since 1961 but the Stoke game in '64 was my first game too Toni - yes we saw Jimmy Mac (albeit playing for the opposition)Claret Toni wrote:A fair few since I 1st saw the Clarets in 1964 against Stoke City; but nowhere near the number of matches true supporters have witnessed over the intervening years.
