You’d think it would be too hot on the Algarve at this time of year for much intensive training.

Popular destination with fantastic facilities apparently. I think the person who will suffer most in the sun and heat will be Sean Dyche.

but surely if you had any ambition of being integrated back into the 1st team squad and, hopefully, being considered for the 1st team you'd forego the 'extra' week and be with the Clarets at pre-season warm weather training! :?

Absolutely not. The manager will insist on breaks for the players and they will be told when to report back. Six players come back this week and the last one next week. Nothing about the player’s ambition but about the manager’s planning.

I would bet Lagos. Lots of teams come here. It's very close to where I live.

It’s a popular destination. We’ve done it mid season before but not for pre season.

Bit silly of the club to tweet a picture of the U23s getting on an EasyJet plane with a stop off at Germany.

Just makes us look real cheapskates.

Them Rovers fans have started taking the **** already.

First team used to use them as well but they have a private plane now for the first team.

Do you really think that ?
I’d be far more peed off if we were wasting money sending young development players abroad on a private jet. They can count themselves fortunate to be getting paid to play football abroad.

As for Blackburn fans taking the ****.....that really bothers you ?....coming from a club who are currently signing players who are that old and past it their next trip abroad is more likely to be to Switzerland with Dignitas.

They usually train at The Campus which is between Quinta do Lago and Val de Lobo. Amazing training facilities and good golf.
Sean Dyche has holiday home there.

think his 'late' start and inevitable 'catch-up' has not done him any favours regarding possible selection - or even inclusion!

this from Lancs Live 28th July:

The 29-year-old has yet to feature in any of the summer fixtures, although his absence is mitigated somewhat by his delayed return after international commitments with Bermuda in the Gold Cup.

That meant he didn't join up with the Clarets on their pre-season training camp in Portugal, unlike the rest of Burnley's international contingent.

Wells returned to Gawthorpe midway through the month and has now completed two weeks training. He was on the bench for the win over Port Vale last week but remained an unused sub and was omitted from the squad altogether at the DW Stadium.

Asked whether the frontman, who scored nine times during a loan spell at QPR in the Championship last season, would get minutes in Tuesday's home friendly with French side Nice, Turf boss Sean Dyche offered no guarantees.

Sean Dyche commented further re Nahki Wells:
"Possibly, see what is out there, see what is in our camp, see with injuries and with form. Lots of things.

"Whatever way it works he needed that break because of the football he played in the summer so we had to give him that break and he is a bit delayed which means he has to catch up with the football as well.
