Salford, only about 15/20 mins from Old Trafford actually. Should I have picked my local team instead?!

Born at home in Darwen when we won the World Cup.

Both parents and all grand parents were season ticket holders at Ewood.

They have never liked me.

Bank Hall, 27th April 1947, which was the day after Burnley played Charlton in the FA Cup final at Wembley. My dad had a ticket to go, but couldn't because my mother went into labour. I don't think he ever forgave me!!

Front room of a terraced house, Lyndhurst Road, just 350 yards from The Turf, 7th March 1938.
First match on t'Turf, 1945 with my grandad.
Can't be many Clarets who were born earlier, nearer, and went on first match younger than that can there?

I guess very few Man U and City fans live in Manchester.
I know it's a bit of a joke but there's more than a bit of truth in it.
There's some data showing the spread of each Prem team's fans (from 2017) at
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/20 ... nley-fans/
Brighton, us, Hudd, Watford & Swans (maybe WBA) look to be the most localised; Man U the most spread.

There's some other (slightly earlier) data suggesting that less than 40% of united fans are from North West + South East (so maybe only c 35% from North West). Liverpool not much better. Man City not too bad but I guess that will get more like the other "big clubs" if they stay successful for another few years.

VB, you beat me by 3 months. 29th July 1947. What a truly great vintage ( even for wine). My claim to fame is that I was at the 47 Final. Mum went although she was 6 months pregnant. View was not great from what I remember !! Where do you live now ?

Very! In my younger days was lucky enough to go down to the cellars of the two main churches and some of the nobler palazzos - virtual labyrinths beneath the city itself and as interesting as above ground if not more.

The city also boasts of an amateur football Club - this video (about 5 years old now) may interest you :D
