Hi Hroogar,

Unfortunately not, we moved to Lagos when I was two, escaped during the war, went back when it was all over and left Africa for good in 76. It was a charmed life and as one Nigerian Doctor I have spoken to in the recent past, we were there during the good times.

Would like to go back for a visit, Accra, not Lagos.

Did your wife enjoy Ghana?

Why not? I've never met you but I'm sure you are a damn fine chap!
Actually my daughter was born at Queens Park Blackburn 1992 and has Blackburn on her passport. I took her to Turf Moor regularly growing up so whilst she's not massively into football there's only one club for her.
She went to St Wilfrids Blackburn and that's where she learned to fight. Good education for her and she has no regrets!

We went to Bristol to see SS Great Britain. Nice City I thought with a rich history. My daughter had a boyfriend from Bristol. Lovely lad and I loved his accent and the way he said cheers! I was born in Burnley but haven't lived there since the age of 19. I'm a lifelong Claret. My daughter once said Burnley is a shithole and being her mother I was quite hurt and upset. Apparently afterwards he made her feel bad by telling her " You shouldn't have upset your mum. Burnley obviously means a lot to her!"

Since then I've always fancied Bristolians are decent folk!

Thanks for the reply Heath, Yes she enjoyed it. Talks about it quite a lot. She had some marvellous times there with her family, although from what she tells me she was one of the priviliged ones, servants, golf, dinner-dances, bbq's on the beach. I have talked to her about going back for a visit, but I think she prefers to remember Accra as it was, although I would like to go. Anyway, thanks for the contact and hope you can visit Accra again sometime. Up the Clarets!

Warwick in the heart of the midlands! Oct 1954. Also played for my home town club. Was at Cov City but stopped going (like an idiot) even though I was playing with the likes of Mick McGuire and Bobby Parker, apprentices at the time and a little older than me. Always stayed true to my beloved Clarets though.

At home. Which at the time was 25a Cog Lane Burnley. Next to the Yatefield Club.

None of this “hospital” mumbo jumbo.

Bank Hall, 22nd May 1962. However, despite living in Burnley for only 15 years I still support them. I’ve lived in Swindon, Peterborough, York, Lincoln and Nantwich but never felt the urge to support their local team. I’m happy with that. I even married a Blackburn girl just to screw her life up, but that turned out a score draw.
