I can’t see the point of a bet like that. To actually make a decent return you would need to have a wad of cash tied up in a bookmaker’s bank account for 9 months. What’s the point?

Football Index a far safer place for your money. Low risk. I’m up 25% on my investment since Jan.

Sorry I don’t understand your point.Rileybobs wrote:I can’t see the point of a bet like that. To actually make a decent return you would need to have a wad of cash tied up in a bookmaker’s bank account for 9 months. What’s the point?
Put to one side that this is gambling and your capital is obviously not guaranteed but £10 at 9/4 if it comes in will give you winnings less your stake of £22.50 in the space of 9 months.
I’m not aware of anywhere you can get the equivalent of 250% return per annum.
A £50 or £100 bet on this by definition is a lot more likely to come in than the many silly accumulators lots of people put on at the start of a season even though when they see their potential returns of several thousand percent it can be quite exciting until one of their bets is down before September has finished and their accumulator is ruined !

My point is that I don’t personally see the attraction in season-long bets at odds as low as 9/4. The idea of putting a tenner down in the hope that I might be able to withdraw £30 in 9 months just doesn’t appeal to me. If we were talking larger stakes I would rather my money be sitting elsewhere for 9 months.TVC15 wrote:Sorry I don’t understand your point.

Over a season I wouldn’t miss £10 .....Rileybobs wrote:My point is that I don’t personally see the attraction in season-long bets at odds as low as 9/4. So i’d rather put some random, silly outsider bet on for 150/250/500-1 over a season.
I’m guessing this is the point you’re making?
Having £10/20 pounds tied up in a bet over a season that’ll make you £40 IF it comes in isn’t really appealing

My point was how much money would you have to put down on a season long bet at odds of 9/4 for this to be appealing? The answer for me would be too much for me to consider depositing into a bookmakers account and being without for 9 months.bfccrazy wrote:Over a season I wouldn’t miss £10 .....

Edit - and yes, a few quid on a 200-1 would seem like a more attractive season-long bet to me.

I’ve started sticking random bets like this on when I have the bits left in my account. Don’t miss the odd few pence but if one rolls in then i’ll be buzzing.Rileybobs wrote:My point was how much money would you have to put down on a season long bet at odds of 9/4 for this to be appealing? You’ll be gutted you only put 9p on if it comes in though

I made up the £10....I haven't got a clue how much the OP has staked.Rileybobs wrote:My point is that I don’t personally see the attraction in season-long bets at odds as low as 9/4. As for your last comment do you mean that you would rather your money be on a bet at longer odds ?
If so I kind of agree but on the other extreme so many people put these season long accumulators on at ridiculously long odds that by definition 1 in several thousand people win.
For season bets I usually try and look at 3 or 4 teams and if any of the teams are longer odds than say 8/1 put them in each way. To try and keep interest for as long as possible I will do multiple type bets like a yankee or trixie so if one team lets me down you still have an interest.
Last years trixie lasted up until the last day when I needed Liverpool to win the title for a 30/1 double to come up out of my 3 teams (Fleetwood at 10/1 to get promoted let me down and Lincoln at 7/1 had won the title weeks before).....I don't do it for the money I do it more so I can follow teams I think will do well and you can watch out weekly for their results etc.
I probably won't put one on this year as think its too difficult - only one I fancy strongly are Leeds at 9/2 and I can't bring myself to want them to win every week !!

Look at the other way, it won’t feel as bad when they do win!TVC15 wrote:I made up the £10....I haven't got a clue how much the OP has staked.

18p - it’s an EW bet hahaRileybobs wrote:Crazy odds for a 5-fold. Good luck!!

I keep doing it with similar teams I fancy whenever I have a few pence left over in the acc so if it comes in then it’ll end up quite a bit more than that solitary bet (which wouldn’t be bad in itself tbh).

That seems very reasonable W.
Re: This bet could well be landed but long time to cash in !!!!!
Might put a variation on including Luton seeing as they're losing key players, will look later on in the window
