Working on a job in Healing near Grimsby, we had a Asian hornet in one of the rooms. Tried to keep it contained but whist I was trying to find something to kill it with, it escaped. Worked in France for a while and know how these things destroy bee colonies.

I’ve tried to find out if we are supposed to report sightings and if so, to who.

Anyone on here know.

Have you ever seen one of these Hornets, friend of mines son got stung twice, although he had no previous allergy to wasp stings, he had to be taken to hospital as he had breathing problems as a result.

Not sure the authorities would **** their pants, but I’m pretty sure you would if one was heading towards you.

I got back into Motorcycling in 2001 when I bought a Honda Hornet... 600cc 100bhp Gave up smoking in 2001 and bought a bike again .... giving up the fags meant over the next few years I had 3 bikes in the garage... the Hornet, a Fireblade I bought in 2004 and then a Yamaga XV1100 harley clone....

Sold them all in 2014 and bought an SLK Merc.... yup smoking is a mugs game holidays, bikes and cars much more fun

An African hornet found its way into my flat a few years ago. Massive insect and terrifying. I managed to capture it in a plastic beer glass but I was scared it would sting me through it, so I put it on the ground and flattened it, glass and all.

I sent the remains to a government agency who identified it as an African hornet and said I did not need to report that species, however you must report Asian hornet sightings.

I think folk misunderstand my drift, it's mediaphobia and PCfascistaphobia. I'll see if I can find the environmental agency letter, I might have kept it.

Incidentally when I saw the thread title I thought we were in for a piece of racism. You know, they come over here and steal our food/women/taxes and expect etc etc etc. Instead I'm faced with bee-ism (they come over here and kill our bees and steal our honey etc etc etc.

Just found a book on pig rearing, it's called (get ready for this) Backyard Farming (really). I'm just off now to 'rear' a couple of pigs, apparently known more as 'backyard farming'. It's an interesting concept but I'm told one needs a good sturdy pair of wellingtons. I hope it's not boaring (oops - a typo).

I turned my venetian blind in the kitchen from down in the day to up and when I did there it was, looking at me and about 2 1/2 inches long. Scared sh*tless I ran out of the flat and shouted for a neighbour.

When no help came, I realised I'd have to face it myself. so I picked a plastic flexible pint glass from the previous night's revelry off the unit and approached it slowly like an approaching sun (from its viewing position.

It had no fear and turned its head towards me like a robot. I moved very so slowly nearer and then pressed it fast on to the glass, venetian blind flat, not caring and then I put a postcard under it and carried it out of the flat and placed it on the ground.

I then went beserk and smashed it for all its worth, glass included.

I've seen that video before of the Humber V8 on youtube. Scary movie! Makes Frank in Blue Velvet look like Mr. Spencer.
