Spot on.
Good innings but ridiculous review. When he immediately reviewed I just assumed that he must have hit it, but he was nowhere near.
Roy should have told him it was taking out middle stump. Hope we don't need that review later.

I think the umpire knew it was a dodgy decision by the look on his face as soon as his finger went up.

Bairstow’s review was nonsense. You can’t ever beat this lot as easy as it looked. Bad umpire decision tbh

Shocking call. 1 review is madness. This is a World Cup, every major decision should be reviewed.

Roy signalled he was reviewing it and had to be told we’d used it. It should have been called a wide.

I assume Roy told him to review it though so he’s also partially to blame.

Bairstow can be like a spoilt brat at times. He didn’t even speak to Roy about it, he just immediately reviewed it.

Very prophetic and how Roy must be wishing that he had told him to just walk!

Disagree.
Reviews are mean't to be there to avoid bad errors by the umpire. If its umpire's call you retain your review, but if it's a frivolous review as Bairstow's was then you correctly get punished for it. On this occasion it's Roy who has paid the penalty for Bairstow's selfishness and inappropriate use of the review system.
We don't want the game stopping every other over for some kind of review.

The problem is some players are more likely to walk than others. It seems that being from Yorkshire can give you a bit of the Boycotts about you.

Don’t want to be too harsh because he has been superb in the last 3 games particularly but his spat with Vaughan gives you some clue to his mindset

171/2 after 25 overs - you’d take that batting first.

Now leaves us requiring 53 from the last 25 overs.

Finch should give Smith another over then everyone can then go home in 6 balls time and end his own misery

Or when he spat his dummy out because they gave the wicketkeeping gloves to James Foakes, who is a far superior keeper.
