Looks as though Michael Kightly is about to retire at 33

Is it injuries that forced an early retirement, or something we don't know about?

He's struggled with injuries so I'm guessing that's the reason.

I liked Kights when he was here, was a player who got you up the pitch which is what I'll expect Jay Rod will do.

Kights's attitude always seemed top-notch, even though he increasingly found himself on the bench. And that, if I remember correctly, was despite also experiencing difficulties with depression. Let's hope Michael's well and that he remains so in retirement.

He'll always be remembered for the goals against Blackpool and Wigan. Best of luck to him on his retirement!

Yes he didn't score many but they tended to be important when he bagged.

He was one of the unsung hero's in that promotion squad but still played a vital role, one of our rare successful loan deals.

Hope he gets success after his playing career, whether that's in football or another field.

Another key player in Sean Dyche’s first promotion side. Scored crucial goals against Blackpool, Barnsley and Wigan, to name but a few: all crackers too!

I always liked him at Wolves and was chuffed when we signed him. I felt a bit sorry for Treacy who had being playing well when Kights came into the side for him, but he did a great job for us.

That goal at Blackpool was massive.
