Mamma Mia - here they go again at Bradford City
In the days when we used to play them, I always referred to their ground by listing all the sponsors they’d had for it.
With a new sponsor named this week it would now be Bradford & Bingley Pulse Flamingo Land Pension Fund Intersonic Coral Windows Northern Commercials Utilita Energy Valley Parade.
But they’ve excelled themselves today by doing a stand sponsorship deal with the local Italian restaurant. The stand on the side used by away fans will now be called the Mamma Mia Stand.

S friend of mine described them this morning as the most embarrassing club in England. I don’t think you will have any trouble working out who it is.DCWat wrote:It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Re: Mamma Mia - here they go again at Bradford City
Living in Bradford this only comes across as a positive news story to me. After relegation and the financial situation that they are in (a situation that we are arguably fortunate to not be in) - what better way of linking club and community than using local businesses as sponsorship? Mamma Mia’s sponsored BCFC shorts last year and provided team catering, again a good idea on the clubs budget. Far more what football should be about, i.e. clubs as the centre of their local community rather than play things for the rich. Could have and may well still be us in that position at some point.

I never went in there. Back then, on our visits, I was always on the open end. That’s where the bigger stand us now, not the Charlie Brown end.Bosscat wrote:Bloody awful stand Tony lol but better than the old chicken shed on the canal road side

Re: Mamma Mia - here they go again at Bradford City
not sure how the Totally Wicked Bob Lord stand etc differs that much apart from we have never sold naming rights for the whole ground (sure we would have done in the past if we had takers) - as defournonblondes says great to have the local community so closely involved in a club (who have lurched from one financial crisis to another) that is working so hard to bring it's whole community into the ground on match-day
Re: Mamma Mia - here they go again at Bradford City
They are hoping it will increase the gate by making it utterly desirable.
"Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much I've missed you
Yes, I've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma mia, now I really know
My my, I could never let you go "

The Mamma Mia Stand is funny - naming our stand the Totally Wicked Bob Lord Stand I thought was downright shameful.Chester Perry wrote:not sure how the Totally Wicked Bob Lord stand etc differs that much

That doesn't bother me at all. Whatever Bob Lord was or wasn't, that was totally unacceptable to me naming the stand like that at the Turf.Bosscat wrote:Especially when you see.....

Having an iconic institution being tarnished by linking it with something which a lot of people think is unpleasant at best is shameful, anyway Totally Wicked saw sense and stopped the sponsorship.

I hope they get a new sponsor for their first year in the National League in 2020-21.

Must be a thing in Bradford - that other lot who play in green are named after the winners of The Phoenix Club's Talent Trek 1999 - Marc Park and Cheryl Avenue - band name - Park Avenue

At least if any of their mothers are worried about where they are they can shout " Mam I'm here!"

I think they'll come back up this next season. They've made some very good signings imo for that division and the waters are much calmer since they got rid of the joint owner Rahic.
