Thanks for your concern bobinho, but I'd had a lot of beetroot last night, chilli infused beetroot from M&S it was lovely, and it's never happened before so I'll put it down to that. :D

A friend of mine went to the doctors for a rectal exam.... as the doctor put on the rubber glove, he said "I have to warn you this may cause an erection...."

So my friend said "oh I will apologise now then"

The Doc snapped the rubber glove ... grinned ... and said "who said I was talking about you" and winked.

As my friend bent over the table

Ive been a beetroot lover since I was a teen, been aware of the coloured pee all that time. If you're just having a bit in a salad it wont be noticeable
I get those boiled in natural juices (no vinegar) little packs, can get through a couple of those per week on my own.
The colour does tend to be pink rather than blood red (scarlet?) though. Thankfully I've never seen blood in my urine but seen my own blood in water plenty of times (treating cuts etc) and it is a different colour.

It may be that it affects people differently. The most obvious edible that affects urine is asparagus & I understand that only affects 50% of all people. The 50% of people not affected by this wont understand what an extremely strong "green" smell you get if you pee any time more than c an hour after downing some asparagus (especially the fresh local stuff you get in the spring growing season just gone).
