I think we have to give New Zealand some real credit here. They posted a decent score in difficult batting conditions and they’ve bowled superbly.

It’s a World Cup, not a ODI series. There was no guaranteeing that England would be in the final. It would be akin to hosting the football World Cup and choosing to use Anfield for the final because England have a better record there than at Wembley.

Absolutely, I know Root was stupid but personally this is a superb game from New Zealand.

I am amazed so many are just giving this up with Stokes and Buttler still at the crease.

Yes, we are on a sticky wicket but it's not Geoffrey Boycott at one end and Trevor Bailey at the other,

This is a classic example of medium pace quality line and length bowling being much harder to deal with than fast or spin, on this type of pitch. Thank god he’s finished now.....

Cringing at thought of Boycott on this wicket. He’d have scored at about half the rate of Root and made sure we lost as long as he wasn’t out. The anti team player of all time

The irony now is that the big hitters are doing the correct thing in nurdling it around now..

Get to 8 overs os so left then go for it

Far to slow is this run rate we are going to need 8 + an over if this carries on soon to much to do

Not an issue as long as these stay in. These 2 are capable of 8 an over later on

Because it is so difficult on this wicket. New Zealand never accelerated, just kept going at four and a bit per over.

More than well in this game and have been all along. A lot of negative ninnies on here.

Keep the faith fellow clarets.

If it all goes pear shaped there are still the Ashes to look forward to.

Wade and Head have just posted centuries for Australia A.

Playing sensible cricket for the conditions now.. just keep nurdling it around for 5 or 6 an over with an odd boundary.. then it will come down to last 8 overs

Cricket is simple when you play the conditions. I would still argue that the lords square does not suit englands aggressive style... but these two are playing it the correct way which shows them to be smart cricketers..and not just blasters.

That was a very silly review, could cost them that.

Not even close with umpires call, so lose it now.

I think that was driven by them wanting to break the partnership... the power is shifting in the game .. but all it takes is a wicket to change that

It's a great game for the neutral, its swinging one way than the other with every wicket. The last 8 are going to be explosive

Just mentioned a super over decider, if it finishes a tie. I hope Buttler not taking the run out from the last ball off their innings doesn’t come into play.

Question with the power play, when you're not allowed more than 5 fielders outside of the circle, is this just when you're setting the field before the shot, or after a shot is taken you're still only allowed 5 fielders, so a player within the circle can't chase a ball out of it?

No the fielders have to be inside the circle at the time the balls delivered

At the time of delivery

It's coming down to butler this..stokes needs to weigh in..his strike rate needs to go up or get woakes in.. well either get a 12 over in or woakes strike rate hopefully will be better

I believe we’ve still only had one 6 in the match.
