Daily Mirror and The Mag also now confirming it, the Mirror quoting Lee Charnley, their MD
as saying he's "delighted" SB has joined NUFC.

On this subject do you think that this appointment is worse than Burnley appointing Laws as manager when Coyle left?
I would say on merit alone Laws was a far worse appointment but if you consider the situation we were in at the time and the fact that Burnley are a lot smaller and less attractive club than Newcastle I would say it is more even. Think Id probably still just go for Laws as the worst of the two though

I’m not as convinced as others that this appointment will relegate NUFC, although I hope it will.

Best to hope that something goes wrong with the Bruce appointment then and they go back and raid Wednesday for Zola.ClaretTony wrote:And Zola favourite for Sheff Wed - heaven help them

Sheffield Wednesday had said absolutely nothing on this until a short time ago. Interesting statement from them.
The Club is disappointed to learn via public statement issued by Newcastle United that it has appointed former Sheffield Wednesday staff Steve Bruce, Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence.
Regardless of the fact that the staff resigned from their positions with the Club on Monday, there remains outstanding legal issues to be resolved between the club and the staff and Newcastle United. The Club is currently considering its position and taking the appropriate legal advice.
No further comment will be made by the Club concerning this matter.

Seeing as Bruce has already helped set the legal precedent for this we can probably expect his appointment to be blocked or delayed?

Me neither. He might be so bad that they sack him early enough in the season to get someone in to rescue them.Rileybobs wrote:I’m not as convinced as others that this appointment will relegate NUFC, although I hope it will.

That's my thinking.let's hope he does plenty of damage while he's in the hotseat.TheFamilyCat wrote:Me neither. He might be so bad that they sack him early enough in the season to get someone in to rescue them.
