The only thing of possible interest is that D4 is nowhere to be seen. Other than possibly Sean's attempt to wind up somebody by playing Jonah in parts of both games.

I would have thought Barnes not featuring might also have been of interest, in fact of more than Defour because we know he's not currently fit.summitclaret wrote:The only thing of possible interest is that D4 is nowhere to be seen. More than likely just picked up a knock in training and doesn’t want to risk making it worse

Bardsley, Wells also missing?
Re: ARTICLE: Rodriguez and Pieters both net in friendlies
I'm surprised David Jones got 65 minutes.
We're doing the right thing as a club allowing him to train with us, allowing him to play over our own players/youth is a bit silly though.

Heaton played a half too - that MUST mean that he's going nowhere...

I noticed that Ryan Cooney's signing photo showed him in a '31' shirt so I guess this confirms McNeil is now going to be '11' despite wearing '31' in PortugalAndyClaret wrote:Dwight now wearing the number 11 shirt.

Re: ARTICLE: Rodriguez and Pieters both net in friendlies
I think it seems pretty certain that jones will end up with 12 months after looking at the line ups.Personally I can see Hendrick and Westwood in the middle first game, with cork as 3rd choice.Thinking about it I don’t think it’s that ridiculous to have Jonah as 4th choice is it? His game is not about pace etc,and he is a damn good footballer.Be quite similar to when Britton went back to Swansea,he suits our style.

Re: ARTICLE: Rodriguez and Pieters both net in friendlies
I mentioned it yesterday. When I saw Cooney wearing 31 I assumed Dwight might take 11 but he did, as you say, wear 31 in Portugal. The club announced that Wood had moved from 11 to 9 but they've said nothing about Dwight to my knowledge. Once something is confirmed, I'll update the squad list.Selby Claret wrote:I noticed that Ryan Cooney's signing photo showed him in a '31' shirt so I guess this confirms McNeil is now going to be '11' despite wearing '31' in Portugal

And, looking at lineups, Hendrick plays at no 10 to Vydra in both halves - the thought of Jones seen as cm before Hendrick and getting 12 months is frighteningboyyanno wrote:I'm surprised David Jones got 65 minutes.

If we sign David Jones as our midfield back up we may as well give up now.

Or maybe Dyche wanted to play Hendrick there and was a midfielder short so asked Jonah to fill in.jojomk1 wrote:And, looking at lineups, Hendrick plays at no 10 to Vydra in both halves - the thought of Jones seen as cm before Hendrick and getting 12 months is frightening
Why on earth are people getting so wound up about the line up for a behind closed doors game? Incredible.

Or you could just leave it to the man who has provided 4 consecutive years of premier league football to decide. If (and it’s a big if) Jonah gets a deal then the great man will have decided it is good enough for usBertiebeehead wrote:If we sign David Jones as our midfield back up we may as well give up now.

Jones is utter shite and does absolutely nothing apart from run around. Dyche is overrated aswell, bit of a hype job who won’t be able to achieve anything at a club with ambition.Hibsclaret wrote:Or you could just leave it to the man who has provided 4 consecutive years of premier league football to decide. Which explains why Jones has made loads of dosh playing for a succession of managers over the years and Dyche makes something over £3.5 million a year entering his 5th season as a PL manager and you are just being a wind-up merchant/pundit on a BFC messageboard and, I assume, earning nowt per year for the privilegeRight_winger wrote:Jones is utter shite and does absolutely nothing apart from run around. Playing Jones is obviously just a subtle message from Dyche to Defour saying - "look if this guy can play with only one decent leg im sure you can manage it too mate"

What I've found interesting to date, and I know we shouldn't read into these games too much, but Tarks has partnered Gibson in both friendlies so far.
To me that has the potential to be our strongest centre back partnership and I just wonder if Dyche is giving that some game time to get prior to the start of the season?

No, he just knows that Ben Mee is our best centre half and doesn`t need to see him play to know that.

If Ben Mee didn't get dropped after the first few months of last season there's not a cat in hell's chance of him being dropped now. Although i'd agree Tarks and Gibson could be our best pairing.Row Z wrote:What I've found interesting to date, and I know we shouldn't read into these games too much, but Tarks has partnered Gibson in both friendlies so far.

Re: ARTICLE: Rodriguez and Pieters both net in friendlies
Ben Mee had his worst time for ages in the first half of last season but it wasn't really possible to drop him was it? Tarky was recovering from surgery, as was Gibson so the only fit centre halves we had were Long & Mee. I'm convinced that a fit Gibson might have got in at some point during the first half of last season but for his two operations.jrgbfc wrote:If Ben Mee didn't get dropped after the first few months of last season there's not a cat in hell's chance of him being dropped now.
