Padiham CC Saturday

Post by Quickenthetempo » Tue Jul 16, 2019 9:42 pm

Have had to borrow the services of Lowerhouse pro Erasmus after an injury occurred to Jack Dewhurst.

We play bottom of the league Feniscowles so it's a good chance for him to impress.

No doubt a few house fans will pop up to watch him.

As long as he doesn't try and keep up with Lenny drinking in the Morris Dancers, he'll be fine.

Just been announced Lowerhouse haven't offered Ocky terms for next season, so he could be out to impress any watching clubs tomorrow.

With Holt being a local lad it's easy to go from professional to amateur.

Lowerhouse will know the ruling as I think they're the only club ever to bring a former overseas professional in as an amateur with Haasbroek.

Yes he did.

Sleep was playing as an Amateur at Read before rejoining Rishton to play with his step son if I remember rightly.

Frankie had to sit a season out as a Pro before the league allowed him to play for Lowerhouse as an Amateur.

I'm sure Ocky has a few years left as a paid man though.

Ocki won't be playing as an amateur at Lowerhouse next season. He can still earn very good money as a pro and will, I expect, for a good few years.

Long term I think he plans to become an umpire. I know he is quietly progressing up the ranks in that regard at the moment.

Good to see he is giving something back to the game through umpiring. He certainly has the right name for being a top umpire.

There's been quite a few on today in Lowerhouse gear. I would of bought you a pint local cricketer if I had known you were here.
A hundred partnership between Callum Clarke and Ocky won the game for Padiham.
He didn't pick up any wickets though.

Nice to hear he helped Padiham to a win. He will make an excellent pro for someone next season. Surely be snapped up. An extremely calm steadying influence coming in at 3. If he gets out early then House invariably lose. Bit of a shock we are not keeping him but perhaps it is time for a change. He tends to take his time making runs and builds into an innings. A graceful player rather than explosive. Maybe Lowerhouse are looking for someone a bit more flamboyant and big hitting? More of a bowling pro perhaps?

Daryn Smit please :D

Smit has signed another year at Derbyshire so he he won't be able to commit full time.

Ocky did all right today and seems a great bloke, but I wouldn't go as far as Lenny and say he was a class above the Ribb league.

Great bloke but Lowerhouse need someone who can come in and score quick runs, Oki will sit and score 60 from 40 overs. Hard for me to criticise him in any way and I won’t because I’ve too much respect for him and it’s almost impossible to pick holes in him

That is exactly why they are looking elsewhere i think. Very solid but not a quick scorer. It is a gamble because he is very reliable and an excellent pro.

I was talking to someone well in with the House today who plays with the 2nds.

He says it's simply they don't like keeping Pro's for so long. They kept Frankie for 3 years but he could be the first.

He was 48 with 19 overs left before he got fired today. LBW going down leg. The shots he played oozed class but they're was a few throw everything at the ball shots.

Despite being bottom of the league Feniscowles bowled well today.

That's what he was signed for apparently.

He's been getting a bit of stick for slow scoring off the locals, but that will happen if you attract a 20/20 type crowd.
