Huddersfield's new 2019-20 home strip stands out with its insane sponsor application as the logo of betting company Paddy Power is printed in a white sash across the entire front of it. Many fans were bamboozled by this and hope / expect this initial unveiling to be just a prank"

Just had a glance at their forum. It seems a lot of them think its a wind up, they are trending at 2 and 3 on twitter someone said so "its working".

They also quote some rules and regulations about sponsorship size that would mean it cant be real and they expect the real one to be announced tonight.

But none of them REALLY know!

It must be a gag. No one in their right mind would wear that, let alone play football in it.

Rule 12c

Got to to be a windup, can't see the players being happy to run around in a shirt like that and certainly can't see any fans buying it!

The "sash" isn't part of the sponsor (they'd argue).

Surely the lettering falls into the area size?

Thinking about it 250 square centimetres isn’t really that big.

It’s only a 25x10 cm block

How big is our sponsor?
I’ve not seen it “live” but it appears bigger than that

Have you seen the state of the sponsor on the shirt of the Newcastle shirt today in the Asia trophy

Makes ours look good

Clearly a wind up. If you were aloud sponsoring like that there would be a load of cash strapped clubs doing it. Hudds have got money and a decent board. It’s a wind up

This one never fell afoul of the rules, I'd imagine you could probably say the sponsor is only the lettering and there can't be much of a difference between the two...

This is the new Huddersfield shirt which the club has reported as being part of Paddy Power’s new ‘Save Our Shirt’ campaign; an initiative that is backing a move towards unbranded football kits, effectively returning the shirt back to the fans.

I wonder how much PP paid for that stunt and how this compares to the income they could have received for sponsorship?

They should have gone one further and announced they were changing to PP colours.

Paddy Power played a blinder with this move

They got more publicity than just sponsoring the kit would have done and also come out the good guys by having an unbranded kit that looks very nice.

Was obvious all along it was just Paddy Power marketing, they are brilliant at it. As stated above, genius by them, again.

Probably go to a few lower league teams which will not cost them much and sponsor them to have no sponsor on the kits.

Huddersfield will have been their “big entrance” into the “Save our shirt” world.

They certainly have played a blinder there, although clearly the fuss surrounding this is a one time thing, they can't pull the same stunt again. I also assume that they're paying below the going rate for championship sponsorship, although Huddersfield may well make up the shortfall in increased shirt sales.

Where the amounts are much smaller in the Championship, I can't see any clubs in the Premier league turning down the sums quoted (£7.5 million for us) to make a point and have a plain shirt.

I'd imagine that Paddy Power will have branding around the stadium and being a 'principle partner'. Both parties will have make it up for not having a shirt sponsor.
