Yorkshire
I needed some wisdom.
Where is the nearest Yorkshire border point to the turf moor centre circle?
The current thought is Portsmouth on the way to evil bridge or just outside foulridge?

Re: Yorkshire
Here we go. The purple-ish border going North-South on the right hand side is the border with West Yorkshire.
I reckon my earlier guess may be slightly closer than Portsmouth is to Turf Moor.

Re: Yorkshire
Looking at that map the closest point would be Hare Stones Hill just off the footpath to Gorple Stones t'other side of Rams Clough.
The nearest road crossing the border, as the crow flies, looks to be Ridehalgh Rd with the Long Causway a few yards further - though much closer to get to from Turf Moor in a car.

Re: Yorkshire
There’s a crow flies feature in google maps on a pc. But i agree the Widdop Rd through Thursden Valley looks the winner.

Re: Yorkshire
West Yorkshire is a great place with so much beauty and, of course, a lot of Burnley fans. Any time I go to Nidderdale I can feel the real moorlands of Northern England. I think maybe it's time we gave up on the Lancs v Yorks stuff, I'm more of a North v South man these days. And this is coming from a born and bred Lancastrian.

I couldn't give a monkeys about the stupid "us and them" attitude of some people, I find it laughable....
There are a myriad of pro's and cons to both Counties.
Cons = We have Leeds you have Blackburn....
Pros = Yorkshire pudding - Hot-pot and Black Pudding
In 2012 Yorkshire won more Gold Medals than Australia in the Olympics....
The only time I want Lancashire to lose at Cricket is when they play the White Rose county of Yorkshire...
There are some beautiful parts of Lancashire without doubt. The Trough of Bowland being one of my favourites. I am lucky enough to live in the Yorkshire Dales and I LOVE IT.

Seriously bud Nidderdale is one of my favourite places in Britain. One of the few places in this country where you can drive for miles and not see a house let alone a town. Magna Carta on their beautiful album Fields of Eden allude to Nidderdale in the songs Greenhow Hill and Nidderdale/Backroads. Worth a listen if you like good music.

Re: Yorkshire
Mmm. Careful Boss.
However on a digression - that noble and famous Scotsman, Mel Gibson, was obviously a true spearhead of fashion in Scotland. Seen wearing a magnificent kilt in that true and honest portrayal of William Wallace, Braveheart (a title that was actually given posthumously to Robert the Bruce), it seems to have been completely overlooked that the kilt didn't see the light of day until some 300 years after the time of Wallace. Sorry to say that, despite being a good film, it has so many inaccuracies that there is more reality in Peter Pan.
Just a thought you know.
So Boss, when did you first realise that you had a hatred for Celts?

Our Lancashire home is Turf Moor to me. I was born in Keighley and have been a claret for over 60 years . There were loads of Burnley fans in Keighley and we travelled on Andertons coaches to every match. I was at the European cup games v Rheims (or Reims) and Hamburg. I have the Rheims programme -it was overstamped 6d(sixpence) over I think the usual 3d(threepence)! I go to the Turf now with my 2 sons-clarets since birth. We love to have a few beers in Burnley mixing happily with our Lancs neighbours. The main thing is we all love Burnley don't we? If my dad hadn't taken me to turf moor in the 50's I could have ended up a Leeds fan!! Come on you clarets.

That's the one Tony! The programme cost as much as the boys entrance to the match I think!

How can a simple question over a couple of beers in the roger them gayte turn into a county flame war??
Roll on the first match of the season then sanity and normality will return.
And remember Yorkshire is a common county and Lancashire is a county palatine which is far superior.
