Like I said Tim don’t know him through pubs. Someone I know on a chat to once in a while at a scooter do, so wouldn’t begin to either get into discussing anything like that or taking any sides;I know he got rid of one landlord overnight but they were done for all sorts of Freud shortly after. That’s about it for pubs.

The court case has been repeated all over the world. In pretty much all of the other countries either American Bud or Budvar has won sole rights to the name. The UK is a bit different in that it allows both to use the name.

One thing that is for sure, there has been more landlords/managers do Tex over than there has been him doing them over!

Seems crazy for him to throw a successful management team out on Xmas week don’t you think?

Opening today apparently, just in time for first game of the season. I'm hoping to have a look in there tomorrow but I expect with the novelty factor it will be rammed.

I had a look through the windows and it looks very small and even worse in the corridor sections, so can see it being a bit of a squeeze fest.

Well done I say. Any pub opening up nowadays is a big financial risk, especially where there is some competition. Big or small, real ale or cocktails, who cares, a couple of drinks before the match and all is well!

Looked to be folk in when I drove past before the game last Saturday. Maybe it was just a bit of a guest-only do.

Personally, I hope it's a massively pretentious craft beer bar that serves only DIPAs and imperial stouts out of bowler hats, while playing Trout Mask Replica on repeat all day long.

Hope it prices out all the typical braindead with an ambient vibe low in snobbery.

Might work for 4 hours on a Saturday and last until November.

Well every Wetherspoons usually has at least 8 real ales on and those pubs seem to do Ok.

But complaining...

The irony, I don’t drink Carling or any cheap lager but it makes me laugh the way people don’t understand land lords/ brewery logic.

Only on match days before the game. Yeah, I am at bit surprised as the Brun Lea always seems reasonabley busy when I've been in.

Most of the people who go on about "real ale" go out twice a week,at best, and have 2 pints.A pub can not run off budgie suppers

Spoons are offloading some of their underperforming sites. You seem to be implying that this wouldn't be necessary if they ditched real ale.

Somebody has the balls to turn an eyesore into an attractive looking building which can only improve the area and makes the walk to the Turf look better. Regardless of what they sell I hope it is a real success and I will visit it.
Edit
On condition they accept American Express Centurion credit card.

It’s a weird human condition where people want to talk down something that clearly someone else has put a lot of time and money into.

Let people make their own minds up. You don’t fancy it, just don’t go? These are clearly clarets fans trying to make something of an area close to the turf. Surely everyone should embrace that.

Re Carling....With their positioning were they really not going to have at least one standard lager on offer? It’s a tough market, alienating a substantial % of matchday custom straight away would surely be a bizarre strategy.

Good luck to The Vintage Claret!

I'm certainly not having a go at Tex for spending money and opening a new bar. I would have like to have seen more real ales on, but hey ho, he knows what he's doing and good luck to him.

I really hope it’ll be a success and I will go and pay it a visit.

I understand the need to serve the “commercial” beers - just disappointing that is Carling.

Personally of that end I’d prefer Carlsberg or Becks but obviously just like Carling isn’t to my taste, those won’t be to others

Carlsberg is the worst of the lot! Hope they can make a go of it, I'm sure match days will be fine but it's the other 340 days a year when Burnley aren't at home that might be a struggle.

Didnt think it was too bad

£9.20 I think for a Coors, Strongbow and a thwaites although after an hour ( by 14:00) they had run out of both Coors and Carling.
Nice Decor, didn't stink, reasonable prices, reasonable clientele, decent toilets and the footy on, not a bad effort, and would deffo go in again
